Rumours abound Stocker wants out and is keen on Richmond. The irony that would be given SOS jumped ahead of Richmond in the draft to secure him……. Stocker looks like he might be a handy type and a good long-term replacement for Cotch and Prestia.

He's contracted for a few more years, and I doubt we'd trade him for less than a Top 20 pick given that is what we invested. I know Richmond have multiple first rounders, but I can't see us being keen.

"Winners are grinners and losers have meetings."

After the bloke or committee that does all the recruiting, the players are probably the most important people in a football club. They determine whether you'll be successful or not. But they train and play footy and that's all they should do.

If there are players having a go at Teague, whether it be to the higher ups of admin, or amongst themselves in the hallways of Princes Park, then these guys need to be found out and moved on.

While Teague he is coach, he's the boss of footy whether you agree with it or not. Players energy will be better spent adhering to what he wants. It seems there are players at Carlton who are quick to blame others rather than their own performance. Doesn't sound like an joint that will have success any time soon if that's the type of player there.

“The Storm don’t want negative people. We don’t sign people who are going to challenge authority all the time to the point where it puts a negative spin on your team.

“There are some players who want to go against the system. It might work elsewhere, but not at the Storm.”

The club is having an external review, I'd be more annoyed if there were players not saying anything.

The purpose of having conversations with a third party is so they can get to the bottom of why the club is performing so poorly. If the players are of the opinion his game plan doesn't work, or his instructions are confusing then it's far better they voice their concerns so the admin can go about fixing it.

It doesn't mean Teague is necessarily going to be moved on either, but he hasn't shown any real improvement as senior coach in almost two years, so it's a fair assumption he's one of the main culprits at the moment.

Teague, Bolton, Malthouse, etc - these guys have come either with great reviews, or won premierships. They've tried rookies with good reps and ex-premiership coaches (Pagan another that comes to mind). Result has been the same either way.

Are Carlton making bad coaching appointments or should the players take more responsibility?

Marc Murphy has been coached by 6 different coaches in his career... 6!! At one club!!

Are we really going over this again?

Malthouse was cooked as a coach and even Collingwood supporters wanted him gone at the end of his tenure, Ratten was an OK senior coach but he had a decent team lead by arguably the best player in the comp - he is now struggling at St Kilda, Bolton was obsessive and wouldn't trust his assistants - his final season he went 1-10, Teague was appointed after a few sugar hit wins.

I don't think is is just the players or the coaches, but we haven't had a fully competent coaching team for a couple of decades. The footy department and admin has been as big an issue since the introduction of the salary cap.

Different times, different reasons. Malthouse walked in a complete mess and wanted out.

Bolton did a lot around culture but had no support. Teague should not have been given the job without a thorough process.

So important now to have a detailed process

Callum Coleman Jones debuted in 2019…. kicked his first goal 2 weeks ago and 7-8 players celebrated with him (admittedly not the entire team). If the players are not aware a teammate has played 8-games and not yet kicked his first goal that’s another example of the selfish thought process at Carlton - I’d suggest the first goal is a regular talking point at every club. Too many excuses at the Blues and that’s the problem. Stocker would have been super pumped with his first career goal and he gets a lukewarm response from 2 teammates … it’s just garbage whichever way you try to paint it.

100% buy-in means exactly that - no short cuts, no excuses, calling out selfish play, everyone playing their role. The problem is looking at this season Cripps, Docherty and prized recruits Williams and Saad are four of the main offenders when it comes to not setting uncompromising standards.

Nonsense. It's a symptom, not the cause of the problem. That sort of rubbish is massively overrated.

The players are struggling on field, losing games and underperforming. When you are winning every week it's all so exciting and wonderful, but it is a tough gig when things aren't going right.

100% buy-in, no short cuts, no excuses - all just buzz words. The team sucks right now, they are down on form and confidence and there is a lot to fix but that's obvious, well beyond the number of hands everyone slaps after a goal. When we won last year everyone was piling on top of each other and happy as larry.

People slapping Stocker on the bum wouldn't have won us the game against Melbourne, or Sydney or West Coast, and wouldn't have changed this conversation at all. Even if they'd hoisted STocker on their shoulders, if we had lost all of those matches ther would be some minor piece of body language that could be unpacked as the key to while we're losing. Or, it's just because the team is garbage?

Stocker is exactly the sort of player we need to hang on to as well as push hard to develop further.

I would be amazed if true. Club have really helped him through a tough period. He does want to play midfield though.

Dow more likely to go than Stocker but all these things could well change with a change of coach

Their list doesn't make sense..

Why pay huge Money for Williams + Saad but keep absolute cloggers like Eddie Betts, Levi Kasboult and Marc Muprhy on the list? Get rid of them and blood some kids.

It reminds of where we've been post Paul Roos except Carlton have the makings of a better team.

Teague doesn't come across as confident or inspiring when I hear him speak. Im not sure if Clarkson will have the desire and if Lyon does not wont the job their options are minimal.

Similar situation to Daniher IMO.

A couple of years ago he'd be worth/the club would have asked for multiple first round draft picks, but injury and general decline has compromised him quite a bit. He needs to head to a club where he wont be the main man.

Club would probably be happy to head to the draft with a couple of early picks, and try to salvage Dow/LOB/SPS. One way or another the club needs a mini reset with a new coach and some clear air for young players to lock down a role in the 22.
I reckon Dow has some currency. He is played out of position, id be looking at what North have to offer.

Sad thing is, Eddie Betts has kicked 17 goals. Second on their tally. Owies third with 10. That says a lot about where Carlton are.

Except they don’t have the makings of a better team. Post Roos we had a very young up-and-coming list. 31 year old Curnow is their best player and they brought back in an old Betts who’s just out there having a laugh and a bit of fun. The fact Betts is second on their goal kicking tally and Carlton are 14th on the ladder is a blight on the team.

no serious team is keeping that list make up. Makes purely zero sense if you are trying to crack finals.

its like they are sitting on the edge of the pool wetting their feet but not jumping in.

you'd have the absolute shits if you were a young Blues player.

Curnow's their best player?

Surely McKay or Walsh hold that mantle.

Catastrophic. I wonder how much of this review is based off the absolute delusion of the supporter group and football department. Thinking they were anywhere near a contender, only to blow potentially one million dollars in a covid ravaged season on gate receipts?

Their utter stupidity in overrating themselves cost them almost a million dollars.

If they were more realistic about their prospects, they'd take the home game in Perth and at least pocket the coin.
