We needed to be saved from ourselves - sure - but who will save Carlton ?

I agree totally, he's a detriment to the club. There have been rumours Mike Fitzpatrick will challenge for the presidency, but so far, nothing else has come of this. I agree Elliot has been wonderful for the club, the passion and money he gives to the club is second to none. But his ridiculous outbursts, comments and actions only hurt the club. Enough is enough. We need someone who can support the club from all accounts, not just with a chequebook. Maybe that's a bit harsh, because I know how much he loves the club. He just needs to bloody shut up.

When you think about it, Elliot has done nothing more than get his names in the headlines time and time again. In such a passionate environment as football, I think it really is a case of 'any publicity is good publicity'. This mind you is coming from the perspective of someone who is in a traditional non-Aussie Rules state.

So what - he mouthes off, he drinks, he calls policewomen 'girlie' etc etc etc....well at least he takes his punishment along with his trial-by-media.

I have lived thru the times of the 'fugitive' Mr Skase. Elliot's 'antics' are just that.....in comparison to our 'beloved' Mr Skase.... The only thing that man ever did for footy supporters was to let his wife do the merchandise buying, then flee the country, so that we, the supporters got to buy some great stuff (driza bone coats, italian wool and leather letterman style jackets) for a fraction of the cost when the recievers were trying to recoup their money.

Elliot has done this stuff for a long time now, and will probably do it for a long time to come. Imagine how boring it could be without him!!

At least he is no 'Skase' or 'Edelsten' (or however you spell it)

Bee im not in the business of defending Easty, but the problem is big Jack isnt worried about Easty, thats the point hes not worried about anyone anytime regardless of who he offends when his out and about

I'm in two minds as to what we should do about Jack.

He does have a profile and he is a player in the direction of the AFL but he is a liability as well.

My first choice would be for Jack to stay but shut up.

Jack leaving and Jack staying but still being out there are about on a par.

Ian Collins (when head of Tribunal) + ignored weekly kidney punches + greg williams = 2 brownlow medals... not as funny as Dipper's brownlow but very, very close....

If Jack was anyone else's president I would still defend him. What you see is what you get and if you don't like it, tough. He tells it like it is, and I admire people like that.

Isn't he ? Suggest you check the facts again. There are those who would tell you that but for a technicality of law he would be a guest of her majesty right now. Don't remember the $80M-odd deal which saw him charged with fraud ?
Not all the crooks are on the run or in jail.

Actually, given his obnoxious manner and lack of class, he would be much better suited as president of another club.

I just read the article and sounds a bit suss,anyone can make this up.Can we please have the name of the marketing company making the phone calls?No mention of this.John Elliot might have made a few mistakes this year.But in the past he has upgraded optus oval,made Carlton a profit most years,fought against the afl in courts and won,put Carlton in a very strong financial situation,signed a new major sponsor this year and recruited some top players.Hamill is the only player we have lost and this was due to salary cap problems,which happens when you have top players at the club.You can knock Elliot all you like but he has done a lot for this club and this shouldn't be forgotten.

I agree Carl. My problem with Jack is the same as the players. He needs to leave the playing up to them and stop giving the opposition extra ammunition. Some senior players have also expressed this.
