Its a shame really. So few people know about the illustirous history of the mighty West Coast Eagles. A team who in 20 years has created more history cultire and respect then Melbourne has in 100. When Eagles first started off they were put into the club as a 3 year deal where we would hand over 4 mill to save the bankrupt Victorian clubs (not much has changed has it. We are still giving them 4 mill to save them). They were given little help in drafting talent and were pushed into near bankruptcy early on. However Eagles rose above this and became the force it is today.

Its more then clear that without 4 mill Eagles provided we would all be sitting in our chairs cheering on the latest rugby team as football plunged into bankruptcy and was lost forever. Its also more then clear that without the Eagles still in the comp today the current AFL would have died a slow and horrible death and eventually be pushed away taken over by the ever so boring soccer.

Since the clubs dont have the courage nor the class to personally say thanks one or two things should be adopted to show the thanks we well and truly deserve. One idea is to either give Eagles a free top 10 draft pick as a thank you present. Another idea would be to rename the AFL the WCEFL. Either way Eagles deserve the praise cos essentially they are the only reason the game still exists.

As found on Wikipedia:

In 1986, the VFL Commission announced plans to set up privately owned clubs based in Perth and Brisbane, motivated by the need to sell multimillion-dollar licences to save a number of Victorian clubs which were struggling financially.

Not too far off the mark in one aspect F_U.

If Eagles say jump, Demetriou should say through which hoop. Looking back at it. I really cant believe how much of a infliuence Eagles had on the game.

AFL = West Coast Eagles. Its really that simple
