When you post a new thread, how many 'views' do you hope to get?

Or replys?

When i start up a thread on the footy board (a serious thread) i normally hope for at least ten/twenty responses to it as sometimes you can put a bit of time and effort into doing these things. I also like it when the 'views' logged hits around 400 or so. Makes me think at least it was worth whatever time/effort was put into it.

So, do you get disappointed if the thread disappears without a trace? Or a slight sense of achievment when the response is greater than what you thought you may first get?

Thoughts?

I'll reply and open the post every so often to make you feel better. Not many people reply to my posts, I don't think many people even know who Rocco Jones is. It's all about who you are, not the quality of the post. I bet some people see Rocco Jones and don't even open the post. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean the whole worlds not out to get me.

Nothing worse than posting a thread that gets no response. Happened once when i asked for Villa fans on the English Soccer board. Managed to make it look respectful with some help though.

If its a serious topic i hope for at least 10 to 20 replies so then you can make a rebuttle and it usually goes on from there, it can be dissapointing when nobody answers your threads..

Some persistence sometimes pay off with my most recent thread. Muso's. I just bought a new guitar. It went horribly with 4 replies in two days and 2 of those replies were mine..but then i kept replying to the 1 or 2 ppl that were interested and today i log on and it is 3 pages long :)

Dont think it goes on reputation though as i just reply to the threads that look interesting..although if a lesser respected Bigfootyite posts a thread like Carlton boy i dont even bother to open it.

I must admit I have a chuckle when I see a thread with no replies and 14 views at the bottom of the page... :D

But really, I don't care. If someone wants to talk about what I do, and they wanna reply, they can. if they don't they don't. I usually get some good replies, so I can't complain too much.

It's virtually impossible to predict the success of a thread.

In the last week, I posted a thread about the merits - financially - of each teams draw. I put a lot of work into analysing figures too! Yet, despite this, it didn't attract much interest.

Yet, two days ago, I post a thread about the 92,935 that went to Waverley in 1981 and it get nearly 1000 views and 90 responses in 2 days. And I only started in on the spur of the moment. Ironic, isn't it!

From now, on I suppose I'd better start posting threads off the cuff, rather than thinking about them days in advance before posting. I seem to have more success off the cuff.

I know that my new threads here are specific to the regional board, and to leagues that I follow, I hope that I at least get a reply or someone reads what I have to say, but if its a fizzer, well it doesn't matter too much.;)
