Yeah good on them for actually having a crack as opposed to being stuck in a 3, 5, 9 year rebuild.I think they did the right thing loading up on experience to strike while they were in the core groups window, but short of a form turn around it probably won't work out for them. It happens.
FA signings generally cost the spot of a 4th or 5th rounder which means the strike rate is pretty low for kids taken that late.
They've past their time based on the past couple of months and their B grade kids never really made the jump up to A grade.
Their toughness is ill-directed - happy to try and intimidate the opposition or dish out hits in play, but it's never transferred into mental toughness when things go wrong or a willingness to take the game on (and stilted ball movement really cost them the game last Saturday night).
Their midfield is one-paced without Wells and Dal Santo was good at moving the ball quickly and accurately but this year seems to have dropped form quite a bit.
They're actually in ok shape for younger talls coming through and with mids generally easier to find than talls they could find a couple of kids who can play sooner rather than later and not have a devastating bottom 4 bottom out like some clubs do.
