I dont know bout kicking 60 goals next year but I DO believe his best football nowadays is deep in the forward line. He only needs five kicks a game to kick 4 goals.
A mobile forward line with Bucks,Rusling,Medhurst,Fraser & Cloke alternating through there looks good on paper with Rocca being the stationary target.

Throw in the likes of Neon,Thomas,Egan & Dids when he comes back, its a pretty good mix :thumbsu:

Roaming around the 50 arc exerting his kicking and overhead mark prowess. He could kick something along the lines of 30 goals without assists.
His midfield days are finished.

I'd play him on the half forward flank.
You would be wasting one of the best kicks in the league if you stationed him in the pocket.
Any leading type forward(ie Rusling) would start to salivate if they saw Bucks with the ball on the wing or forward flank, because he very rarely misses a target.
And the opposition coach would have to put one of his best defenders on him, because they all know just how damaging he can be,with both his kicking and marking power.
If we can get 30 to 40 goal out of him this year, plus his many goal assists,I think everyone would be more than happy.

Just let him unleash at Half Forward. Bucks leading from the 50 to take an over-head mark between wing and half-forward and he can deliver it onto the chest of a Rusling, Rocca or even a Medhurst. Always capable of playing key position if things aren't working out for the big men.

Yep totally agree.

Use him as a high HFF, similar to Tarrants role, to mark on the lead and then pump it inside F50. He'll also drift forward at times and kick goals.

I predict anything from 30 to 50 goals and if played this way, may lead the AFL in goal assists.

I think he will still play the odd bit in the centre but more reduced then this year.

i cant believe we are discussing this, buckley will never play in a premeiership for us we might as well offload him now, if u dont agree you are freaking delusional, we need to promote youth, let him coach, but please promote youth in our midfield, if we dont/ we might as well be vfl

no i think that Bucks has got at least 2 good years of footy left in him.But to preserve him must play him in the foreward line.He will become a devestaing forward, not many opposition backman will hold him.He is a devestating kick, either to deliver the ball pin point accuracy which is what we need or to kick goals, bucks is generally quite accurate inside 50.With him thrown into that forward line mix we will look pretty dangerous.HA WHO NEEDS TARRANT..................................

You can not be serious?

You'd let Buckley play until he was 50 if HE wanted. A Buckley only comes along once every 15yrs if you're lucky. Not to mention his leadership qualities.

I agree he won't play in a flag but that doesn't mean you offload him now. He's the heart and soul of our club.

Any negative talk on bucks in this board is considered blasfimous in my opinion!.....but we're all entitled to our opinions.

as previously stated his ability to ****** up a leading target is second to none. however, its hard not to imagine him as a FF... i think hed have the ability to post an 80+ goal season as a permenant forward. Tall enough, crafty enough and if he is having a bad day at FF he can roam across the forward half of the ground.

Pfft,go back to supporting Essendon, you idiot.

Half forward flank mainly and occasionally isolate him deep forward.
Despite his ambition to , he should only play in the midfield in emergencies such as an absolutely crucial stage in a match or if we suffer injuries to mids during the game.

No more in the midfield. Its time for Swan to get the first tag. Deep forward with ocaasional spurts up on the half forward. This is the only way to get two more quality years out of him. He could be leader in goal assists with a full year in that spot.
