For most of the first half Melbourne players tried. They chased, they tackled, they tried to create.

But Melbourne was a team out of its depth. Much was made out of Moloney. But really, he is just one player.

The big thing about our game? Our running. unfknblvbl! I thought we had a team full of identical twins! "What's he doing there? He was in the forward line a second ago. And him too." We had about 30 players on the ground at times.

We would have smashed Collingwood by 10 goals running away.

This win will always rate highly for me, it's the first game i've been to since 2009. The last game i saw before i moved overseas was the Jimmy after the siren behind that beat Hawthorn, which is my favourite game. Even moreso because the dozens of Hawk flogs around us were belting out the club song when they were 5 goals up in the 4th. :D
Favourite 5 that i've been to during the last 5 years;
1. - 2009 vs Hawks 99-98
2. - 2007 vs North QF 156-50
3. - 2011 vs Melbourne 233-47
4. - 2007 vs Collingwood 80-64
5. - 2008 vs Western Bulldogs PF 83-54

Obviously in terms of pure domination this one has to be up there at the top. I was at the game and i dont ever remember marvelling so much at how much domination one side could have over the other. It was just mind blowing and the atmosphere at the end when everyone at the ground got a sniff of the record was amazing. With each goal in the last quarter it got louder and louder. Awesome spin tingling stuff. i havent heard an atmosphere like that at KP since we went down to Port in 07 when Gaz put us in front at the end.

Overall, on a personal scale, it rates in the top ten but not before the sides big finals wins

Oh yeh that was record score game and then did we beat Adelaide the next week by like 20 goals?

so it would seem...

crazy run of four games there:

rd 6 1992: geel 25.25: 175 d fitz 11.11: 77
rd 7: geel 37.17: 239 d bris 11.9: 75
rd 8: geel 32.18: 210 d adel 12.15: 87
rd 9: geel 28.13: 181 d ess 17.22: 124

122.73: 805 over 4 games... thats an average of just over 201 points a game. madness.

I was listening to SEN All night appetite yesterday. The two blokes mentioned how this win will be talked about more and more as time goes on.

When people think back to this Geelong era the win will be one of the first to spring to mind. People will say "I remember this one time when Geelong won by 31 goals to defeat Melbourne. That WAS Geelong"

It'll sum up our era beautifully for people who aren't even born yet. If we hadn't done it already, the win pretty much made sure we'll NEVER be forgotten.
