Have been thinking through this since yesterday arvo.
In relation to the Caddy goal that wasn't paid yesterday and BT and others have said that the line across the goal not only goes from the back of the padding, but also includes the flags at the back of the padding which actually makes the goal line a lot thicker than the actual line between the goals. This is apparently why the Richmond goal was disallowed.
So what happens if a player is taking a shot from a very tight angle, and the ball misses the inside of the post by say 2mm, but at a height greater than the padding? Should this technically be called a point because if you continued the line from the back of the padding forever upwards it would have hit this imaginary line? Or does the goal line have different widths based on height, which would seem bizarre?
Does anyone know the correct answer, is there a correct answer?
