Am I the only one that thinks that tarrant is being wasted as a full forward? I think he would be better suited to a role running into goal, say as a wingman or a half forward flanker.....

I mean 1.9 goals a game != full forward. And for those that are saying that its because he is being double teamed in the absense of rocca are right, but he should still be able to overcome it just as all other full forwards have to.

p.s. was anyone else sad to see lokan don the black and white jernsey again ? surely we have some better young prospects that could have benifited from the game time ?

I hope that Lonie and Cameron Cloke get my games to build confidence, getting sick of Mick dropping players and leaving them in the wilderness only to bring them back for a few games here and there....

Sorry just a very frustrating game to watch...

HFF, he is better like that. Although his 2003, even though not a high goalscoring year was fantastic at full forward, goals aren't everything, he lead goal assists that year. In 2003 he played fullforward, but with Rocca there they had a system where Rocca would go in the right position when Tarrant lead up the ground. Sort of swapping between CHF and FF.
I think the ideal forward line would be:

HFF: Didak, T.Cloke, Tarrant
FF: Caracella, Rocca, Egan

With the likes of Egan, Didak and Rusling rotating through wings and midfield.

Should play HFF.

Still that shove he got in the first 5 minutes had to have been a free. The umpires must be blind or plain useless.

This week he should play at Williamstown andif he reacts badly then next year at another club. If he wants to work hard and wants to play in Collingwood premiership then after dominating next week in the VFL he should play the rest of the year on the wing to see if he can do it. There seems little point continuing on with what hasn't worked for us for 2 years now. It's all too late now but we have to try new things with the players we have got.

No way he should be in our ff possy, maybe a flanker or keep him forward pocket and get him to lead up into the wings to eliminate the top defender like he did to scarlett

Wing.

He has the aerobic capacity to run all day. He can lead and act as the go-to man from the backs, linking up and then kicking long to Trav and co.

He said several months ago he would like to one day play in the middle ala James Hird. Though he probably won't be quite as good, I think this could be an idea worth exploring towards the end of the year. His tackling and defensive pressure has improved greatly, he's quick and he's strong...

So how about it Mick?

Long term ...CHB. Let the ball come to him. I am not convinced he has the footy brain for a midfield role.
I may be wrong!

Medium term (when Pebbles returns and/or Trav improves) - hff and wing

Current - FF and FP/HFF - we have no other option.

Toatally agree, big overreaction there. Half the time we butcher the poor guy with our delivery, the other half he has 3 blokes on him coz our other forwards arent good enough to demand the ball in long. Taz is the only choice and easy meat for backmen zoning off their guys to spoil.

The criticism of his efforts too, I just cant hack it. On saturday he had the THIRD most 1%ers for our club, all while recovering from the flu and rarely 100% injury free.

Having said that, Taz is good field kick most of the time, he had one game a couple of weeks ago where he turned it over a couple but generally its better than his goalkicking. I'd like to see him play HBF-Wing-HFF in the kinda role that Ryan Lonie tries to play (like a Doug Barwick role)

Guys..
This one is a no brainer..
Tarrant as a floating Half Forward Flanker.
There's no coincidence that when he's presenting down the ground and giving a target(due to his running capacity) we look like a heaps better side.
For this year I would go with this structure and Travis Cloke CHForward and either Rocca or Rusling FForward.
Our Forward line actually is quite deadly, but we don't need Tarrant having shots on goals, as we saw against Sydney his confidence is wayyyy down.

Tarrant is a gun, but Madhouse is playing him into a hack!

taknahanga it's not micks fault. He has no choice to play him there. Mick copped a lot of crap in 2003, when Tarrant was only behind Tredrae and Lloyd as the best forward in the league, since he played too far up the ground. Tazza is ok at full forward but it's way dependent on the ball usage of the side and he gets frustrated. When rocca is at CHF he can play fullforward like ive said since Rocca fills the space inside 50 when tarrant leads from the square to the flanks so well. Not to knock Trav at CHF but, Rocca and tarrant work so well together.
In 2003 Tarrant played in the square but lead so long some times you couldnt tell that.

On a HFF I reckon.

We are really miss Rocca because he takes so much pressure off him. T.Cloke will be a good player but he is only 18 and playing CHF. Same as Rusling. With Josh out, Tazz is under a bit of pressure being the main tall forward.

Next year, let me play on a HFF and he should return to 2003 form. I only hope his knee has recovered by then.
