Undoubtedly one of the most important players on our list.

But where should he play?

I've been an advocate of Wirra moving to a wing for ages, but can those fragile feet of his handle it?

Another option would be for him to become a permanent small forward.
The Eagles will struggle to kick goals this year, so maybe this would be a good option.

Imagine if Fido, Wirra and Merenda all fired on the same day.

Half Back, however, if his legs hold up, then a move to the wing is definetly warranted, hes got the skills to excel in that position

Half back for me. He's a ball watcher, so playing him as a loose man in defence would allow us to have a very effective counter-attacking option.

In the midfield we already have Cousins, Braun, Kerr, Banfield, Taylor, Jones, Fletcher, Chambers, etc. We don't need another player in there.

Backline?

Well he's been playing there for a while now and although he is an attacking rebounder, DO NOT play him in the backpocket. Phil Read is back next year so hopefully we wont need to. As a half back flank he could be quite damaging.

Wing?

Would be nice but I doubt his body would cope.

Rover?

See wing.

Forward?

His other option in a Pickett sort of style. Could be used as a half forward flank or a forward pocket. Either way, he could be of great use there. Put him there and see how he goes, otherwise place him on the half back flank.

The forward line would be a bit packed with Fido, Merenda and potentially Sampi all up there. I can't see wirra playing there. backline would have to be his only option.

I think the wing is pefectly suited to his abilities.

Could also play as a floating backman, as having to stay on a designated foward is too restricive for his free running style of play.

Could also be used as a pinch hitting forward when we're running out of options down there.

If he played as a spare man in defence i think he would dominate, he is naturally drawn to the ball and if its a one on one he is rarely beaten. He provides fantastic run off half back so if his body cant take it on the wing then a loose man in defence would be perfect for him.
