What is every bodies thoughts on the rest of the season?

Personally, I love to see us win but with the current state of the draft I really want us to finish on the bottom.

Losing a pick to gain a player as good as Dusty is just too risky. But I have this feeling that in the second half of the season we have a few winnable games that we will win and we won't finish last.

We really need to stay on the bottom and I hope DH knows this.

Thoughts?

Absolutely pathetic!
You have seen the real young Richmond tigers over the last 5 weeks and they are a competitive side that will only get better with more experience. I hope we win at least 5 games this year so we can't get priority picks next year. We have a good enough squad that if we play well for the rest of the year and build for next year we could be in finals contention next year. If you think otherwise then name the 8 teams that will certainly be ahead of Richmond next year.

By the way draft picks don't mean shit Riewoldt was pick 13 Tambling was pick 4.....who kicked 10 goals today...thats right **** off.

Win as many games as possible.

Come round 18, put anyone whos not 100% right into surgery or whatever so that they are all okay for a big preseason.

Either way we are going to finish probably bottom 2 or 3, so we will still get a top 10 pick.

We had the draw from hell in the first half of the year, and most sides we played was when they were up and about apart the Hawks and Adelaide.Where to from here? We have a lot of winnable games in the run home but I'm just more concerned with the continued improvement week after week as we have seen of late.

If results don't mean anything in a development year when we're losing, they shouldn't mean anything when we're winning.

Bizarrely I don't think any other sides will be going the tank this year, so we won't be defrauded of any picks that we get.

I know it won't be the popular opinion but I'd like to see the kids keep playing to win. If that means we win a few more games than the majority would like then so be it. Yes I understand that we need to get the best possible pick but I'd much rather see our young list winning games when they have the chance than learning how to lose just so we can get pick 4 instead of pick 6 or 8.

In the 'This Will Kill Everyone' thread posters are saying that GC are going to get good players with all their first round picks, because the science of drafting is becoming more precise, and given they have 1,2,3,5,7,9,11,13 & 15, surely that means that picks 4,6,8,10,12,14 & 16 are just as good as the ones GC will have. If that is the case then what is the real difference between having pick 4 and say pick 6 or 8?

Don't need guys coming in here carrying on like knobs. (referring to docko)

I'm only making the suggestion as I want us to be a good side and we need a few more decent picks to make that happen.

Imagine how badly some of you would be sooking if we won a couple of meaningless games this year and didn't improve at all next year?

This is another nothing year for us.

If we finish 2nd last I think it is no biggy now tbh because the top 3 are standouts and then it is pretty even.

I guess if we lost a pick at 27 that sucks but we will win 3 more games imo.

I agree with the theory that at rnd 18 those with niggles or needing surgery get it done at that time. This will mean we plays kids the last 4-5 games to give them exposure to senior footy, we will not be tanking but will struggle to win games and keep the pick, but more importantly everyone will be ready for pre season from day 1 and can have a big crack.

That is the most important thing but the goal always has to be to win....

POrT, Crows, North and even the lions are all very winnable.

Also, don't forget Nason. Wasn't he pick 70?

Hopefully our recruiting team are doing their job and spotting some young talent.

WC are questionable regards the tank. You only need to look at them let Harvey NM and B Gibbs off the loose to rack up massive disposal counts as well as glarin omissions.

Adelaides intensity has been questionable as well, fluctuating regarding.

Simply put we cannot win a premiership without key high draft picks in the next fews years.

If you want to hover around in the finals you can do that but the team is not good enough to win outright with the current list. We may even make the top four, but a premiership , barring injuries to our opposition, is out of our reach currently

This perspective is called knowing your limitations and playing to your strengths to win a premiership!!!

The difference is a Dustin Martin to say a Gary Rohan.

Yes Gary is a good kid, But DM is a class above.

Who would you want playing for Richmond this year?
While Martin has been great this year, it should be remembered that he has been played where all the action is so has naturally shone alot more than Rohan who has been played as a HF/FP most of the time so hasn't really had a chance to show his talents.

The only knob here is the person calling people knobs.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Although there are trolls I guess most want RFC to get the premiership it is just a question of how you see it take place.

You can't blame some for different perspectives to tradition given we haven't got near a premiership for 25years

Yes I agree, but you haven't answered my question.

Who would you rather?

That's the difference between these picks.

At this stage you would have to say Martin based on what we've seen, but who is to say that Rohan doesn't come on in the next couple of seasons and ends up being just as good as Martin.

I think Rohan will be great. In fact we may be able to trade for him later.

He will be a star.

Martin on the other hand could be something else. Martin at this stage for me has been as impressive as Judd starting but in a different way. His strength through the contest and inside is truely exciting!!!

Pick 4-last 10 years.
Morabito, Hartlett, Morton, Leuenberger, Kennedy, Tambling, Ray, Walsh, Polak, Livingston.
I wouldn't finish last for any of those players.

Could well be. Hopefully with any picks we get we just learn to develop the kids better. Because in years gone by I think we have failed in this area. Hopefully things have changed but I know I'd still rather the best picks we can get this year.

If anyone thinks tanking is a good idea to get pick 4 vs pick 7 or 8, you are kidding. Look at what's happening each week, it's a developing culture of constant improvement, raising the standard each time we play. We play a qtr and a half of crap one week, then a quarter, then 15 minutes. The intensity level is maintained for longer each week causing turnovers and goals. It is just anathema to think that tanking for a pick is a part of the plan. This is not what we're about. You wait and see what happens at trade time. We'll get a high profile name to come across because it is now obvious we're going places.

Where to from here for the Tigers?

Another win next week, you will trash us. I even stopped watching our, the Lions pathetic game today to see Jack kick his 10 - I knew he would. Enjoy your win next week.

Rubbish some of our players are improving.

Eg JR, Nanos, Collins Edwards, Cotch getting fitter

Some of our players are in better positions and making us more effective

JR deep forward, Deledio back, Edwards back , Martin in the middle

We are playing better as a team and we are not that bad and getting confidence.

But guess what , we never were that bad with the talent on our list.

The fact is Port did not play the wet well and conditions suited us and WC never showed up.

So we are going places but premiership glory ATM for us is a long way off so we still need to work hard and give ourselves every possible chance. Do not take anything for granted or failure will result from being mugs
