Look at what's happening each week, it's a developing culture of constant improvement, raising the standard each time we play. We play a qtr and a half of crap one week, then a quarter, then 15 minutes.

Rubbish some of our players are improving.

Eg JR, Nanos, Collins Edwards, Cotch getting fitter

Some of our players are in better positions and making us more effective

JR deep forward, Deledio back, Edwards back , Martin in the middle

We are playing better as a team and we are not that bad and getting confidence.

But guess what , we never were that bad with the talent on our list.

The fact is Port did not play the wet well and conditions suited us and WC never showed up.

So we are going places but premiership glory ATM for us is a long way off so we still need to work hard and give ourselves every possible chance. Do not take anything for granted or failure will result from being mugs
Hawthorn never showed up either did they? 5 straight wins would argue otherwise.

With Hawthorn what is your point???

As I saw it they have played easier teams, and the list has got better from getting over injuries and some more used to playing with each other.

How is this relevant to Richmond since there list contains some 15 premiership players or so doesn't it??

Could well be. Hopefully with any picks we get we just learn to develop the kids better. Because in years gone by I think we have failed in this area. Hopefully things have changed but I know I'd still rather the best picks we can get this year.
With the amount of money we're pouring into recruitment I'm pretty confident that we'd be able to snare a decent kid regardless of what pick we have. And with the amount of money we're also pouring into development, I also pretty confident that the kid we do get will reach their full potential over time.

i would rather win games and see jack get the coleman. we dont need the highest pick we have a team here and what we get will be good anyway pick 4 or 24 doesn't matter, luck is luck thats the draft nothings guaranteed.

You make your own luck in this world.

IMO opinion the competition is going to be a lot harder for all clubs in the future to survive. I am not sure the comp will be flush with cash like it is ATM.

We need to make hay while the sun shines

We lost by 3 points to a team who have now won their past 5 beating sydney and carlton who aren't easier teams. And as for Port and WC we smashed them so it's not like they didn't play well and we struggled to win, they struggled and we smashed them.

Our talent wasn't that bad you are right but we still were missing about 6-8 out of the starting 22 and we are getting closer to finding 22 capable players.

Players are improving.....getting fitter is improving.

If anyone thinks tanking is a good idea to get pick 4 vs pick 7 or 8, you are kidding. Look at what's happening each week, it's a developing culture of constant improvement, raising the standard each time we play. We play a qtr and a half of crap one week, then a quarter, then 15 minutes. The intensity level is maintained for longer each week causing turnovers and goals. It is just anathema to think that tanking for a pick is a part of the plan. This is not what we're about. You wait and see what happens at trade time. We'll get a high profile name to come across because it is now obvious we're going places.
We will go into each game trying to win. But if we are going to keep to under 4 wins we will be seeing Thomson, hislop and give those guys one more chance.

It seems to me people are reading to much into the Hawthorn game.

IMO Hawthorn are not premiership material by the way.

Hawthorn have beat nothing much recently of significance and we met them when they were at there where nearly at their weakest.

Don't get me wrong, our list will get us to the finals in 4 years time.

That is not an achievement though and we may well make the finals to never get to a GF for the next 10 years if we do not succeed in the recruitment area in the next 3-4 years.

I don't think Hawthorn are premiership material either all im pointing out is they can not be considered rubbish like port and west coast. I also think our form over the past 5 matches has been a significant improvement and if we played that way in the first 7 weeks we could've racked up 2 or 3 wins at least. Our team is so young that we can only get better and based on the rest of the competition we should be looking at finals in 2 years maximum. I think we can make it next year but iam optimistic.

I don't disagree with you.

But with Geelong, Freo in the way and then GC and GWS we won't being winning a premiership for a while. Who knows Bulldogs or Collingwood /Melb may get stronger if teams like Adelaide, Brisbane and later Geelong trade off their older better players to head south for draft picks to start their next re-building phase.

So if we need to win a premiership we need to continue to rebuild with youth to get a powerful base to propell us for a chance for cup glory!!

hi guys - sorry to invade your team threads, but i just wanna say effin brilliant win today - and absolutely great to have yaselves a new hero in young jack. building a damn good crop in the middle too.

for the 1st time in years in looking forward to meeting the tiges at the G - do what ya can to win a few more, the pies do likewise and we'll see if we can smash all records - for noise, numbers, fights afterwards, the works.

been way too long since those 2 hoards got together at the G and made some real effin noise.

like the tigers of old..............YELLOW AND BLACK.

Geelong are in the way but they are getting old and we might exchange top place with them.
Fremantle are overrated and the cracks are starting to show. When we get up and running we will be able to take care of them like we always have.
GC and GWS will be interesting but i think it will take 3 years minimum for them to be great teams.... dreamteams take time to gel.
Collingwood are always a threat, Bulldogs have a few aging players and i feel have hit the wall as in they can not get any better.
Adelaide and Brisbane aren't a concern they are messed up clubs who did the good old focus on winning and not on developing trick.
I'm actually more worried about Essendon and maybe Melbourne but i believe our midfield can match any and it will just be the rest of our team that has to stand up.

Finally i dont think picks 4,4,6 are going to make a huge difference for our club. I think we have 6-8 to delist at years end and we can replace them with more young players but as long as we focus on developing our players i don't think a number matters. Premiership glory will come with player experience, the majority of our players need another 50 games before we can expect to see their best which is a major positive for our future. Give our players time and you will see good results, it's not like we dont have the superstars to build around.
