Training reviews from BigFooty posters I assume? It might just be a bit early to buy in on that basis, IMO.
Unless you're a training watcher, all we've got to go on with these guys is training reviews or underage highlight packages. Sans 1 senior game for Lynch and Keane.

Most opinions will be vibe based, except for the few who have seen a bit of Lynch and Keane at VFL. The rest have barely even played VFL or not at all.

So I'm going with Keane and Tohill because a couple of talls will be nice. Chugg because his name amuses me and Ginnivan so we can talk about whiskers on his Chinagin.

There you go! I suppose we weighed the salary savings v list spots and thought the value was in list spots.

Edit: on a side note Briskey is also worth discussing.
Just to clarify - Dave is incorrect, Noble hasn't been promoted. Mihocek and Madgen were the promotions last year. Noble is due to be promoted end of this year.

sr36 and Quicky i appreciate that article. It is at least something else outside of the feedback of our 4-5 track watchers. It’s positive no doubt, but not enough to sway me that he could be a hit after three weeks of training. I think you’re follow up post is more in line with my thoughts sr in that it has to be a vibe thing. I just can’t wrap my head around how people could get the vibes from him yet over Keane and Wilson aside from his name.

Edit: it could be worse though. Some of the stuff going around about McMahon is too much.

I guess in this you have a few considerations. How a player has gone at training. Their playing attributes and how they performed in u18s. How they fit into the clubs list profile.

You're right to say it's too early to make an accurate judgement and it is somewhat the vibe of it.

I still reckon its fun discuss. I'm looking forward to see how these guys progress over the season.

Wilson is interesting. I liked what he showed forward at the end of his first season. He attacked the footy. I wwas surprised we trained him wing and are now throwing him back. I wish we'd kept him forward.

Agree I think Playing Wilson Down Back is a Mistake.

Look Good up Forward and Forwards we don't have much off but have Tons of Defenders

Well Nobel is a Real Good Clubman then Accepting to stay on the Rookie List when he is a Best 22 Player for us

It might just be about his longer term development to give him exposure in defence.

After the first contract where rookies only get a one year deal, there's no disadvantage to being on the rookie list any more.

Love in for Chugg on the poll is a bit mystifying... As with all our new recruits I hope he makes it, but right now he’s shown nothing and been in main training about 6-8 times. Clear standout from that group is Keane and Wilson is a sneaky chance as the most “talented”, IMO. It might have been touched on, but I also thought Noble was a rookie?
Can’t see any of them really making it to the point we win a flag. Chugg looks like a battler.

Only for the original contract. Noble's current contract would be the same regardless of which part of the list he's officially on.

Then why bother have a Rookie List?

No idea why they've kept Cat A rookie distinctions in terms of lists. Cat B still makes sense.

Might as well add the Rookie List to Senior List as they are the Same.

Rookie list would only be needed for the Cat-B Rookies

Brendan Abbott and Kyle Martin are also rookie fails that were over hyped.

Brody Mihocek, Nick Maxwell, Sharod Wellingham, Brent Macaffer, Alan Toovey, Heritier Lumumba were all also rookie draftees. No different to the ND, you win some, you lose some.

He was on the rookie list for half a year when he was drafted in the mid-season draft, then signed a two-year contract. That takes him through to the end of this year, and because he can't be promoted to the senior list halfway through a season (at least permanently), he'll be promoted when he gets his new contract.

It's the same as Mihocek signing for two years after his one-year deal in 2018. The club clearly has a strategy of keeping rookies on the rookie list for as long as possible to minimise impact to the salary cap. It doesn't actually mean anything - I have no doubt Mihocek was earning more than the base $80,000 rookie wage when he re-signed end of 2018, rookie is just a title for salary cap purposes.

We have a lot of defenders but not a lot of key defenders. And with Shaz and Langdon gone we have less medium defenders too. I get where they're going with that idea with Wilson, but I must say I don't like the idea of changing a players role each year, which we seem to be doing with Wlson. That's if he ends up in defence this year which is where he's training.

Problem they be good at Few Postion but Master on None as they don't have Time to Develop in that Postion

1 year contract when drafted and the base salary excluded from the cap.
You could still have a one year contract without a seperate list. And the base being excluded is ridiculous. Net result is simply more kids being signed up for one year as there is an incentive for clubs to do so.

Mihocek wasn’t a rookie with collingwood. The rest were all over a decade ago. Anyone the past half a decade?

I make a good point does Collingwood have any rookie players we have drafted that have been promoted to become regular players? The whole rookie list has been a fail going into 2021.
