I edited it to add more content.

They ended up winning because of the umpires, because variables sometimes make games closer than the play deserves. They were the better team for most of the day.

It wasn't a game that demonstrates that we're the harlem globetrotters.

No it was an arm wrestle between 2 sides on the rise that was decided in the last few seconds of the game....

This is nonsense, look at the stats - it was essentially even.

They were all over us, we were lucky to be in it. Stats had much larger winning margin for Suns. Crows three goals from fwd half bit dubious. Even if we pushed numbers high, had a +1 even tho we won clearance by 10 they outscored us from stoppage. We were patently missing Matt Crouch lol.

We need to find least little bit fwd half against quality oppo. High dependency transition bit dubious, it's maybe bit misleading papering over cracks. Costs us in a fair few other areas

I’ll try and paint another picture for you. We lost to a team who’s currently sitting second on the ladder with the highest score percentage. By 1 point, at their home ground.

Meanwhile, the free kick count went unusually uneven for a game that was close to a tie, and probably a dozen frees that could have went to us, weren’t being called (eg. the Rankine mark/shove). In the whole scheme of things, and probability-wise, most teams would be losing to the Suns at their home ground, so it’s not a loss to dent our prospects of making the Finals.

The only obviously bad game thus far is the Cats game, no question. How much is it from fatigue from playing 5 days apart on unusually hot nights in an April? Well that’s something we’ll find out more over the next few games.

I think whatever the wins we get, the score percentage is going to be extremely important. If we keep the losing margins by little, while winning by big margins, it’ll likely get us to the Finals. Hoping for something like 7-8 wins by the bye.

I also think Murray is very important for us and we need him back soon and playing out the rest of the season. Our defense looks a lot more shaky without him, and coinciding with us having poorer results since after round 2.

6: GWS (H)
7: Freo (A)
We win one of the above.

8: Blues (H)
9: Port (A)
We win both of these.

10: Pies (A)
Loss.

11: Eagles (H)
Win.

12: Swans (A)
13: Lions (H)
14: Hawks (A)
We win one of these.

Bye: Crows 8W - 6L
id take that in a heartbeat. i think by the end of the freo game we will be cooked.

9-5 is a pretty good start. But it should have been 11-3 hadn't we thrown away 2 games.

Won pretty much all the games we were expected to win.

Big challenge coming up, need 6 more wins from the last 9. Will probably lose to Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Collingwood with at least one of those games by less than a kick.

9-5 is about right given that we were lucky to hang on against Port and Brisbane.

I think we can get the Hawks at home, but I can't see us beating Collingwood unless we actually attack them. If we go slow, conservative and bomb it in, we'll play right into their hands.

Richmond
Melbourne

Bulldogs
Gold Coast
Port

Hawthorn
West Coast
Collingwood
North

Bolded are non-negotiable wins (Melbourne can be good on their day like we saw against Collingwood and Brisbane, but we need to beat them at home). We should be beating Port too which gets us to 14 wins. That should give us a real shot at a home final, and if we can pinch two of the Dogs, Suns, Hawks and Pies games, then we should get top 4.

9-7 is a couple of games ahead of where I thought we would be.

Quite a few 'should win' games coming up after the bye that aren't pushovers - Melbourne, Gold Coast and Port at home. We will play finals but anywhere from top 4 down to scraping into the 8 is on the cards depending on how we go in those games. Have been good so far this year in not dropping those sorts of games at least.

We are 9-5

Have to chuckle at the revisionism in this thread. Most had us underwater or breaking even at best.

Now 9-5 is "about where we should be" "where I thought we'd be" or "a pretty good start".

I guess that's how it goes. Funny how some things never change with our supporter base.

It was only 1 poster that commented before and after the other poster never commented before.

Yeah, that's not what the poll says.
