Given the analysis of the crop of players going into tonight/tomorrow night’s draft, where would people rank the following players in the open draft?

I guess the following five would have features in the first couple of rounds?

Jacob Edwards
Jai Newcombe
Ned Moyle
Sam Durham
Cooper Sharman

Where would they have been picked up tonight/tomorrow?

Really interesting conversation.

It is not often that those above draft age go overly early.

Jacobs Edwards is about 2 weeks older than Nick Daicos.

Given the talk mid year at the draft and his game against Mac Andrew and his physical gifts, you would think Edwards would have slotted in somewhere from 6-15 imo.

Edwards would have gone ahead of Conway. So around 15-20 imo

Possibly, guess we'll never know, but for you guys it is in effect another high draft pick.

I mean, it's irrelevant, but Edwards and Andrew had a pretty good battle in their game against each other mid year and most mentioned he was around the top 10 mid season.

The only other 2 ruck forwards of his size and athleticism went at #2 and #5.

Just trying to think of high draft picks that were overlooked the year before, it would be a short list.

The Crows overlooked Pav as a 17 year old eligible signing to grab Ken McGregor, but Pav's u18 was out of the box.
Harry Taylor went late first round as an overager too.

Leek Alleer went undrafted for 2 years, went undrafted in this mid season for 20 picks and went at #15...

#24 - Tim Kelly
#26 - Liam Ryan
#22 - Dean Towers
#19 - Isaac Smith
#14 - Lewis Jetta
#21 - Hayden Ballantyne
#17 - Harry Taylor

Didn’t Alleer break his ankle in his draft year?

Pretty unique circumstance, not sure precedent counts much

Don't think he was MSD eligble tbh.

Curious how high someone would have taken bramble? Wouldn't have gotten past hawks at 26

Urgh imagine if North had gotten aleer mid year instead of charlie ham, we'd be a powerhouse.

I don't know if you can even compare the Jacob Edwards situation to past examples, he barely got to show anything in 2020 because of covid, and essentially nominated for the draft as a formality. We're lucky he was eligible for the MSD, it's effectively like a priority pick without the AFL having to give us one.

But there were people predicting he’d go first round. There was a lot of surprise he was passed over entirely.
