RICHMOND is running scared. I'm not talking about a lack of courage, but a lack of adventure.

The big names, intimidated by all the public scrutiny, are playing too carefully.

Youngsters Brent Hartigan and Thomas Roach are showing the way, playing with freedom. Too many others are too worried about making blunders.

If the Tigers continue on this track, there is not a team in the competition they can conquer.

The biggest mistake you can make is to shut up shop and not take risks. This is the Tigers' biggest problem.

They need to start running with the football and bursting through the lines.

Sure, they may make mistakes, but it is the only way to lift themselves out of the mire. They need to find some confidence and they need to find it against Adelaide on Friday night. I also believe:

HAWTHORN was in similar strife before going all-out attack against the Crows in Round 11 last year and turning its season around.

THE Tigers need to play their best players in their best positions. Andrew Kellaway is an All-Australian defender -- start him there.

RICHMOND has to keep its stars on the ground. The Tigers at times on Saturday had Wayne Campbell, Kane Johnson and Joel Bowden on the bench. Go with them. Give them a full game and put faith in them to lift the club out of the doldrums.

DARREN Gaspar should be given some latitude. Let him get back his confidence on lesser opponents. Don't always put him on the other team's gun forward just because he is paid and perceived as the team's No. 1 defender.

to be given a chance at it.
