Which Ablett?

My understanding of MOONEY 21's post is that he meant K Hunt is probably the only current player in the competition who could match Ablett in terms of physical size and strength. Skill is a different issue entirely.

Senior was a tank; he'd brush off most modern-day defenders easily.

assuming it would even be a 1:1 contest. Ablett Snr would just get double/triple-teamed as is the formula in the current day game. A floating third tall would have a field day coming in from the side, knowing that if Ablett crunched him it would be a report+50+another 50 when Milburn gobs off at the umpire.

And he'd still kick 6.....when he was on, no-one got near him.

Absolutely the best individual player I have seen, bar none.

Snr:thumbsu: was a better contested mark which is probably the 2nd most important factor in AFL and was tougher which is not important these days the way the game is. Had better athleticism both speed, jumping and strength. If Gary Senior was in today's Geelong playing group you can count the 2008 premiership as a win and also this year's preliminary against Collingwood would have been completely different as Maxwell, O'brien and Shaw would have had fits trying to stop him getting near the ball the way Bartel, Selwood and co kick the ball:D

I mean if you saw what Goddard was able to do against the Magpies backline when he went forward and whom has similar abilities to snr then you can only imagine his impact :D sorry junior but as you have stated many, many times before "he's just the best player ever".

Bartel really isn't that good a kick.

Selwood is worse, but better than Corey, Varcoe is best
Varcoe IS a beautiful kick.
Corey is woeful.
Selwood is ok.
Bartel is good.
Hunt J is generally the best
Hunt T looks to be a really good kick.

wait until my video is completed;)
I think you guys are gonna appreciate it once you see seniors overall impact in finals and his later years in particular:thumbsu:
His last few years you can see a hell of alot of his son in what he does with the ability to hold onto the ball and push away tacklers and have that short quick burst of speed to goal
