Not strictly a footy topic here, but i wanted to hear your thoughts.
NO 1 - Ricky Martin
NO 2 - Macy Gray (what an annoying voice)
NO 3 - That Mole who plays Sally on Home and Away (i don't watch the show, but i get irrirtated when i see her on an ad)
NO 4 - Bardot ($&$@# rubbish)
NO 5 - John Travolta (bloody scientolgoist)

I was stoked she had her show cancelled, but was also horrified to settle in for celebrity millionaire one time and find that bitch dithering over simple f*cking questions.

I don't hate any celebrity per se. It is the concept of celebrity that I cannot stand. What the hell is a celebrity? What the hell are we celebrating.

How many actors on Home and Away have also found a cure for cancer? How does kicking a football around a park contribute to reducing poverty in the 3rd World.

A lot of these 'celebrities' are held up to society as modern day heroes. Crap! Nothing heroic about them. Who are the real heroes of our society? How many names can we come up with of people who are bona fide heroes that are not sports stars / singers / actors? Not a whole heap I guess!

Think about this; if you can name some individuals who are genuine bona fide heroes do you know of them only because they have become 'celebrity'?

To me, someone like the thousands of CFA volunteers who actually put their lives on the line without wanting or getting any true public recognition or material reward are far more heroic and substantial than any celebrity could hope to be.

The only time I find a celebrity to be remotely heroic is when they are able to use their position to help others. Examples include Steve Waugh helping those kids in India - doing it because he can, and not for the glory; AFL people like Jim Stynes or Glenn Manton (and there are others) who's time is devoted to working with kids who are not able to help themselves.

When I hear commentators gush about players doing heroic things, I really cringe. It justs cheapens the whole - far more serious - bigger picture.

Good point CJH, i cant stand how overrated people can get, how much money gets thrown at them and the way the words hero and legend gets used when referring to people who dont deserve those titles.

Totally agree with CJH and BSA- it's an absolute joke- only problem its only gonna get worse. Some people vicariously use these people to forget about their own problems- and that is truly sad.
