Depends if hawthorn win the flag with lake being the difference.
This, if Hawks can take a flag and Lake plays some sort of part in that, then it's a win for them. Even so, if Hrovat goes on to have a strong career, Lake was never going to win a flag at the Dogs.

This is one of the rare trades that can be a win/win for both clubs.

Far too early to say definitively, but this trade looks like it may well be a win-win.

Hawthorn: Lake has been a very good player for a number of years. Not far from the end of his career but still capable of very good football and may well be a final piece to the premiership puzzle.

WB: Lake gave the Dogs plenty of fantastic service but he was clearly not going to be around for their next premiership assault. That coupled with the fact they want to develop Roughead into a key defender made this a relatively easy decision for them. To move him on for a first round pick was good business by them. Hrovat and Stevens are young but add to their fledgling midfleld depth and could be very solid footballers for them over the coming years.

Well if Hrovat becomes one of the best players in the league then you'd say the dogs win. But if he's a spud and O'Brien becomes the AFL all time leading goal kicker then not so much

It looks like a win-win. Lake playing well, taking the gorillas at Hawthorn. Stevens playing pretty well, BOG against saints, and Hrovat coming in and just looking like a 50 game player on debut. Not sure about O'Brien though.

At this point, it's looking like a good move for both clubs.

Not sure how you're meant to definitively say it's better for or the other yet, though. If it wins the Hawks a flag, then you'd say them. If it doesn't an Stevens, Hrovat and O'Brien go on to star in a Dogs premiership one day...then you'd say them.

Still a lot of water to go under the bridge yet.

Hrovat already gone.....Stevens doing O.K.
