Imagine a final 8 like this
1.Carlton (I know it's funny)
2.Essendon
3.Richmond
4.Collingwood
5.WCE
6.Sydney
7.Hawthorn
8.Adelaide
Crowds, Tv, streaming, digital consumption, merchandise, economy etc...

That looks like a boring top 8 to me.

Would much rather see teams like Brisbane and GWS in the top 8 over Carlton and Essendon, who are just boring to me.

Personally I want to see Carlton as bottom 4 side for the next 2 years so I can watch blue baggers tears as Crippa walks out on them.

Essendon’s 2019 MCG crowds against Brisbane (48k in rd 4) and Sydney (60k) are a good indication of what you can expect from a successful Essendon.

Of course securing more MCG home games is crucial as big crowds just aren’t possible at Marvel anymore.

IMHO currently:

1. WCE
2. Collingwood

3. Richmond

=4. Hawthorn, Essendon, Carlton, Adelaide (currently success/administration)

Adelaide should be 3rd but what the administration of that club have done is criminal since October 2017.

When quoting attendance figures remember most of Hawthorn/Richmond support is to the east of Melbourne meaning that with the non stop train works for the last few years crowds would have been affected. In both the outer east and south east that means a round commute of up to 6 hours if you wish to have a fair few of the sponsors product.

Burger wise a triple fillet Oporto Bondi with chilli sauce is the king of chain store burgers.

Why have Richmond and West Coast both FAILED to draw 1.2 million through the gates given they're supposedly so big?

Collingwood are, have always been and will always be the biggest club in Australia.

Five posts since 2013 and you wasted one of them on the above.:$

West coast have no one outside wa. I’d say Adelaide have more supporters

I always remember the Crows supporters being in huge numbers whenever we played them, not so much the Eagles supporters besides after the GF.

West Coast are the richest club but Collingwood and Richmond have more supporters and Richmond are the only team to reach 100,000 members 3 years in a row.

Congrats, there are lots of pets in Richmond. You simply aren't the biggest club in the country. You may have more members but that will drop off again as your onfield dominance comes to an end.

Collingwood got the luxury of being in top form as crowds were at their highest across the board. 2010 was the second highest year for average crowds, behind only 2008. Since then, GWS and GC have dragged the average down, and while they are growing, average crowds still haven’t quite returned to what they were.

If Collingwood are supposedly so big, why do they repeatedly fail to draw 90k+ crowds against interstate opposition?

2017 PRELIMINARY FINAL
Richmond Vs. GWS Giants
Attendance - 94, 000

2019 PRELIMINARY FINAL
Collingwood Vs. GWS Giants
Attendance - 77,000

2018 SEMI FINAL
Collingwood Vs. GWS Giants
Attendance - 72,000

2019 Round 23 (not even a final 😂😂😂)
Richmond Vs. Brisbane
Attendance - 77,000

2019 Round 9
Collingwood Vs. Carlton
Attendance - 69,000

Says it all really. We outdrew Collingwood Vs. Carlton against an interstate side. I mean, that's the strength of an up and running Richmond juggernaut. 69,000 is an excellent attendance in world sport, take nothing away from them, but Richmond are on another level at the moment.

Tigers > Pies when both are up and running, always has been, look at the stats frkm the 60s-80s when both clubs were winning flags. Tigers always drew more.

Tigers > Pies when both are up and running, tigers have more growth too.

Not to defend Collingwood here, but they make the finals with monotonous regularity. In the back of every Richmond supporters mind is "s**t, we may not get to another one in 30 years, must make the most of them while we can".

Richmond have made finals the past decade more than Collingwood.

Every Melbourne final involving Richmond this decade has drawn minimum 90,000. Unheard of in all of world sport.

The biggest club in the afl is the only club to break 1.2 million during the home DVD away season. This club is not the only club to reach this feat but they have achieved this 6 times. West Coast are huge and are disadvantages by playing in a 60,000 seat stadium while the other club in the poll has never drawn over 1.2 million people during the home and away season

Why have Richmond never, not even once, brought 1.2 million people through the gates in a season?
