Port & Essendon were the most active but it remains to be seen whether their activity is inspired or otherwise.

Adam Saad is a gem, but Rockliff, Stringer, Smith, Watts, & Motlop come with baggage of one form or another. In other words their previous clubs would not have let them go or put them up as trade bait unless there was a reason.

My vote is for Melbourne. They have picked up a gun KPD who is 21. Sure they paid a lot, but he will repay them in spades.

Smith, Saad and Stringer for pick 11, 30 and a 2018 3rd round selection.

For once we lost. Given our ideal trade period was not to trade this year it was always going to happen I guess.

Bombers and Port clearly the winners. Cant pick between them with9ut seeing how the new guys perform at their coubs next year.

Essendon and Carlton did very well but Freo made out like bandits. I thought it was a downgrade from pick 2 to 5 but holy hell they just straight up gave them pick 2.

Pick 2 for a proven talent with 2 years under his belt is fine.

Who would they have got in the draft?

    Happy with how we went.

Entered trade week with pick 3, [no second rounder], 43.

Walked out with 3, 10, 30 and an extra 2nd rounder next year. Moved into the 2nd round, and picked up another 1st.

Also picked up a gun in Kennedy for 28, a cheap 'maybe' in Lang and a backup ruck in Lobbe for free.

I'd say freo. Picked up Wilson & Matera cheaply, then held their nerve to get pick 2 when Weller wanted to leave. Wilson in particular is a very good get.

Essendon may have got better players, but gave up a fair bit as well. Fremantle really didn't give up anything other than Weller who was out the door in a year anyway.

Might be biased, but I'm going with a tie between Freo & Essendon. Essendon picked up some very good players, whereas Freo managed to upgrade a player, and still get handed pick 2.

    Collingwood definitely didn't win.

    Did they even trade?

Its like they dont know if they're rebuilding or topping up, so they just did nothing.

Gold Coast got their marquee player for their first round pick. They may look at pick 2 as overs in the heat of the moment, but in the end they'll be very happy with 10 years from a very talented Weller.

Looking at other team I think it's hard to go past Essendon. They picked up some quality players who will contribute immediately for relatively little. On paper at least they're looking very strong for 2018 and beyond.

Also, a poll is kind of pointless without providing some sort of summary of each teams additions/losses in OP.

Have Freo now got picks 2 & 5? Hell, thats a pretty good steal. Now with Matera, Walters, Ballantyne (in his twilight), they've got some pretty good small forwards. They really need to target the best KPF in the land on draft day to slot alongside McCarthy.

Add speedy defender in Wilson and they are beginning to look promising despite losing Weller and Crozier

Brisbane's 2018 should be an improvement with Hodge and Cameron there now.

I agree, I know everyone is piling in on them atm but they were far from a certainty to draft a star at that pick. And neither are we. Weller is proven quality (imo) and the PR can't be underestimated either.
