You cant be this clueless and still know how to breath?
Where were all these supposed diehards this year champ, all on social media were they?
Still over 100,000 more followers then Richmond and on the Roy Morgan poll the pies have 183,000 more supporters around Australia. Essendon and hawthorn are bigger then Richmond on all fan surveys and social media

What more do we want? Well, a valid argument for one.

A flag is MUCH harder to win in the AFL era, surely no one needs explaining that to you?

Players don't even play state of origin anymore, so that's a completely useless stat to quote.

And watch out, a 1x media association player of the year award. Well, I'm out, there's no competing with that. Seriously?

And he won one b & f? Wow. Incredible. Meanwhile, WC players won actual brownlows and multiple flags and more AA positions. Sheedy was the best player in his team. Once.

Cox won 6 AA's and a flag
Cousins won 6 AA's and 4 B & F's and a brownlow and a flag.
Judd won 2 brownlows (1 not at WC obviously), a flag, and multiple b & f's

Nice try. But you haven't convinced anyone with your media association player of the year award and 1 b & f.
What makes you think a modern flag is harder to win, much easier to make finals now when half the comp gets a shot than when only a third made it, quality of modern player makes no difference as you were up against comparable talent back in the day.

So what is actually harder about it?

lol Kevin Sheedy's 1974 season would just about be better than any season from any West Coast mid

The goal posts are really shifting here. It has gone from best player, to best career, now you are down to him having the best season. What's next, his round 6 game in 1974 is better than any other WC player ever?

Come on mate, it's better to just admit to defeat than trying to change your point.

There are 6 more teams so a lot more has to go right in September. Equality measures have almost made sure the worst teams compete week in and week out. Players were almost part time players back in the day. Now they have entire science departments behind them.

No I wouldn't say his round 6 1974 game was, however I would argue his grand finals in 73 and 74 were

Hmmm like the 64,082,587 that have attended Collingwood home and away games since 1921 compared to Richmond’s 54,807,139?

Since Richmond have been playing all their home games at the mcg since 1965 and Collingwood since 2000 how much more would Collingwood be in front if we were playing all our home games at the mcg since 1965?? A lot more the 9.2 million that for sure.

Plus Collingwood drawing over 1 million during the home and away season 21 times compared to Richmond just 6 time and Collingwood drawing over 80,000 crowds 70 times compared to Richmond 23 times just shows that Collingwood are far in front of Richmond it ain’t really worth comparing is it!!!

Yet Collingwood supporter's can't get to Collingwood's first home final in years, what a loyal supporter base, most Collingwood supporters only go to one game a year ANZAC Day

The Big ONE !!!

-Collingwood have played in front of the 6 biggest crowds in history.
-Collingwood have played in 8 of the 10 biggest H and A crowds in history.
-Collingwood have played in 16 of the 20 biggest crowds in Home and Away history.
-Collingwood have played in the biggest Home and Away crowd ever.
-Collingwood has played in the biggest finals crowd in history
-Collingwood has played in the biggest Grand Final crowd in history.
-Collingwood have played in the biggest all time crowd in the history of the game.
-Richmond’s only crowd over 91,000 required Collingwood to be in the game.
-Collingwood has the 2 biggest Home season averages and 4 of the top 5.
- Collingwood has the 5 biggest Away season averages.
- Collingwood has the 5 biggest Home and Away crowd averages in the history of football and 7 of the top 8.

-Collingwood have played in front of more people in one season than anyone else.

As far as crowds Richmond truly are minnows in comparison to Collingwood.

Nice try but we all know Collingwood avoid marvel stadium. This year we drew 53,000 against west Coast at the g. But only drew 34,000 v Brisbane. If the pies played Brisbane at the mcg we would of drawn 45-50,000! Against port Adelaide in the rain on our final home game before finals we drew 47,000! You guys played Brisbane in the same conditions at the mcg and drew just 32,000!

Hey Atleast we did not draw 6,088 people v west coast in round 14 1993 😂
Lol try again

People writing off Carlton simply don't understand how it works, when (if) they become good again their fans will emerge, green grocers will suddenly be closed on game days, Toyota Celica's and Valiants will dusted off and diriven proudly along Melbourne streets.

All things being even it's
Collingwood
Essendon/Carlton in Melbourne.

Richmond are a fad, my sister in law even brought a membership lol and she hates football, i asked her why and she said she thought she'd had too because of how s**t they were, i also asked if she was buying one for 2019, she said no.

You're comparing eras in a negative way.The flag was easier to win back in Sheedys time? Not sure where your going with that.Judd and Cousins are better and maybe Cox but not your other GF players.Sheedy was also innovative with his style of play.I'm sure he would have shat all over the WA players of the time.

exactly, i find it hilarious when people try to compare VFL flags won in the 50s as equal to AFL flags won in the last 20 years.

No more hilarious than comparing VFL flags to WAFL & SANFL flags, and yet people do that.

hmmmm, a bit less stupid but still a bit stupid. I mean pre the 50s the three leagues could each have had the best club in the country at any given time (more often the VFL would have had the best club just because of pure numbers of players/teams/population). I mean heck in the 1900s-10s the Goldfields football league (Kalgoorlie) would have arguably been one of the strongest comps in the land.
After that and the rush to pick and grab the best players from other parts of the country, the VFL was certainly the best though and thus you could (95% of the time anyway) assume the VFL premiers were the best club in the country.
Still to think a flag won in 1973 is equal to that won in 2017 is silly.

I would rate both the premiers from 1973 and 2017 better than years such as 1992, 1994, 2006 and 2018

Still so many labouring under the misapprehension it is about crowd numbers.

If 50% of the fans of a small club turn up every week at the gate, it doesnt suddenly make them a big club. It makes them a club with fans who like to go watch them play.

In the English Premier League it is a virtual direct correlation between the biggest ground capacity and highest attendance. So is West Ham and Tottenham "bigger" than Liverpool and/or Chelsea ?
Hurling is not bigger than the NBA because it averages double the attendance.

Ignore the moronic crowd argument. Thats something dear old grandad would argue about before the AFL existed. Follow the money trail.
