That’s just one scratch match, where effort levels and structures are all over the place, doesn’t prove a genuine transition, a real midfield transition isn’t shown in one practice game, it’s reflected over a full season with younger players consistently stepping up and leading the key stats. Until that happens, it’s just wishful thinking.
Not really. Just reality.

Not just a scratch match, but this is reflective of whol pre-season training of the midfield group.

Meanwhile Laird has been training with the defensive group all pre-season... so your stupid claims that we will rely on him in the midfield are complete nonsense!

How did Laird go in the middle tonight.... ;)

Can you even name me the Adelaide midfielders lol.

Clearly you don't even watch us!

Any ways, this thread is about forward lines & Thilthorpe looked dangerous with 3 goals in the 3 quarters he played on.Allir.

Port played a smaller forward line. Georgiades is a good player, but strange they didn't use Lord much. Not convinced Lukosius is the answer.

Lukosious getting an absolute bake from their own supporters on the port board.

Shall we bookmark all the port players who have left too? And are gonna leave?
Bergman is the one most at risk leaving.

Imo was their 2nd best player yesterday & wouldn't want to lose him after trading out Houston

Crows would expect to make top 4 based on that performance, winners all over the ground

Be disappointing if they dont

Port to slide out to bottom 6

Both of these predictions are unlikely imo.

1 trial game doesn't make a season, but promising signs we have ditched the slow moving game plan

Did you watch the game yesterday?

Midfield consisted of:

Soligo BOG. He's 2021 draft.
Peatling. 24.
Crouch. 30.
Dawson. 27.
Draper. 18.

Laird played half back.
Rankine didn't play. He's 25.

You're just plain wrong. Players change positions from year to year, and you can actually trade and draft players.
That's what Adelaide have done and the mix is drastically different to 2024, so you can't just ignore it.
Nailed it 👋

I picked Port's forward line, since their crumbers kept getting them over the line, whereas the Crows couldn't.

I don’t think you could it was specifically ports small forwards that got them over the line in close games.

Comparing the highest scoring mainstay small forwards:

Keays, Rachele, Murphy , Cook combined for 83 goals, 54 goal assists and 361 score involvements

Rioli, Byrne-jones, Evan’s and mcentee combined for 77, 43 goal assists, and 301 scare involvements

Yeah, I mean it remains to be seen, but as of now, Port's forward line got Port over the line, last season, so many times, I'd rate them higher. No doubt The Crows could get better, but I don't know if it'd be next season, I think they might need a proper rebuild with a new coach. All their best players are past their late 20s.
Bizarre take.

Port's forward line was a mess. Adelaide's, on the end of Port's midfield and half back rebound work (before missing their best rebounders for finals) would've done very well in 2024.

A merged Crows/Power team would do very well as they have different strengths and weaknesses.

As far as I can tell, Goldberg is running off 5 year old info. Might not have watched any Adelaide games in the last couple of seasons.

Port will be improved without Dixon, and more unpredictability, imo.
Maybe, however any team wanting to be a good finals team can’t have the word “unpredictable” without the word “potent”.
Maybe the new guys Berry and Whitlock might make an impact second half of the year, here’s hoping.

Laird no longer plays in the midfield as he has returned to defence.

You would know that if you actually watched us yesterday. Dawson, Soligo, Crouch & Peatling were our main inside midfielders. Rankine will join them when he returns.

Stop trying to pretend you know my club!
I didn't watch the 1st quarter of the crows vs Essendon game.

Saw the last 3 quarters.

Tilthorpe, Fogarty Rankine and Rachele all kicked goals and had good games. One bloke kicked 4, 2 of them kicked 3 goals and 1 kicked 2.

I don't care what anyone thinks. If all 4 blokes kick 3 goals each or kick a combined 12 goals, most signs point to a crows win.
