Steven's not the type of player we need. If there's something we have it's plenty of short people, even if he's an elite midget.
We need to boost our key position stocks, I still stick with making Rance a big offer, Dangerfield is going to be wanting mad money if he comes to us.

I think Rance is the wrong end of the ground. With Reid and Brown despite all the hate is a proven premiership key backs and relatively young, throw in frost, keeffe with the ability to play key back and a long term prospect with Moore going back and forward our back half seems fine for now.
Our key forward stocks on the other hand are woeful. We have cloke and that's it pretty much. White isn't much chop, keeffe I believe won't be able to play forward and that leaves us very slim. We need to get a young 22-24 year old key forward into our club relatively quick.
And the obvious is the need for another one or two classy mids to replace beams and some extent Thomas and with an aging swan if there's any way we can get dangerfield with leaving enough money for pendles and sidey when they become free agents next year it has to be looked out and done. I'm not positive for any of this happening but one can hope.

The problem isn't that we have too many short people, the problem is our short people aren't elite.
Just a quick one, any Collingwood supporters worried about Macaffer staying now that he's been classed as an unrestricted free agent? I don't think he'll end up at Port, I'm just interested in what supporters think about their free agents from different clubs.

Personally I don't think he is or should be best 22 now or in the future so I wouldn't particularly be upset if he left.
With his injury I find it unlikely a team will chase him though.

I think since he hasn't been able to play down forward like he use to, he's role is kinda obsolete now. I wouldn't be pushing him out the door and think he will stay. However. Players like Cameron ling, and your boys kane corns has changed the tagging role. Caff is good at shutting people down, not great but good. But he doesn't get enough of the ball and when he starts in the centre circle on Robbie Gray, it pretty much makes us 3-2 because Gray can still get a clearance and you know caff won't and for mine leaves us short in the midfield and is a reason why our clearances have dropped.
I don't understand why he needed to go in the midfield, he was a solid member in our 2010 team and 2011 before injury as a competent half forward. Was no need to change.

Rance is a Restricted Free Agent yes? Absolutely no way Richmond will let go of their best KPD when they think they have a chance at a flag within a few a year or so. You'd have to offer him upwards of $1million to force their hand and that would be ludicrous when he's no better than Brown IMO. Would be a handy get but just doesn't seem likely.
I wouldn't be surprised to see us skip the free agency stuff again. Maybe try for another trade so we have more options to look into. Most of the names on the list seem likely to re-sign with their club this season anyway tbh.

Not interested in the FA crop any longer because I don't believe paying 1 player $1.25m is a good platform for success.
I'd rather we look at the teams that the money men are going to and cherry pick.
For instance Geelong are front runners so why don't we chase Stevie Motlop on $600-700k a year out the other side? Contracts (as Boyd, Beams and Griffen showed) are worthless so poach one out the other side if these other clubs are getting greedy.
I'd gladly give our first rounder this year for Motlop to compliment our insiders.

Ignore everything I just said about him then!
From memory Richmond has been in contract talks with Rance since November and he has already put off talks several times. They've locked away Martin and Cotchin this off season so their highest priority now has to be Rance. The longer this draws out, the more obvious his intentions become.
