I know people love to hate Judd but he's one of my favourites and I don't buy into the 'he's a hasbeen' rubbish. Was a top 5 mid last year in the comp for mine.

Dunno about that. So far we've had assessments from two supporters with interests in this poll. If I were to put them in order of the best midfielders I'd list them:

1. Judd (10)
2. Cooney (9)
3. Mitchell (9)
4. Bateman (8)
5. Cross (8)
6. Foley (7.5)
7. Sewell (7.5)
8. Deledio (7)
9. Boyd (7)
10. Tuck (6.5)
11. Gibbs (6.5)

No way is Sewell a 7.5, he missed about 6 games last year but when he has a fully fit year he's fighting Sammy as our best midfielder.

Sorry forgot him. I'm rating them 6.5 in terms of the comp. I think these ratings are pretty subjective really. I might think they're as good as what you think they are, but you might give them 8 and I give them 6.5

My basis was:

10 - Ablett, Judd.
9 - Black, Mitchell, Cooney Bartel etc.
8 - Bateman, Cross, Corey...probably Sewell in hindsight...Kerr etc.
7 - Foley, Deledio, Selwood, Thompson etc.
6 - Gibbs, Tuck, Kelly, Harris etc.

So pretty much 6 to 10 is upper echelon of the game, but varied levels of brilliance. Gibbs will be higher, as will Selwood, but not right now.

Going by the confused smilie, I see your unfamiliar with T4T's work. My advice would be to take her with a grain of salt.

Yes there is Boyd accumulates possessions only but Gibbs accumulates posessions (when playing midfield) and shuts out his man, which i must admit Boyd is also accountable but not to Gibbs level. And Gibbs skills are far silkier.

Great post. How Gibbs can be rated above Foley, Bateman and Tuck is beyond me. Boyd too. He has a long way to go. He needs to get a lot physically and mentally tougher to be compared to those guys.

Even though I've criticised Mitchell in other threads for sniping in the GF I'd easily take Hawthorns out of this lot. They're all tough as well as talented.
