Which player(s) from your club are you ashamed of

Dayne Beams. Didnt like the way he left us. Dont like how he has come to the pies for a pay day to do sfa
This is a great thread. Elite title.

Dayne Beams - purely because of the selfish nature of whats occured in the last 12 months. And that is no-way taking away from genuine mental health issues.
From a pure footy perspective only, Dayne Beams would have to be ours as well. Only player to pull the "homesickness" card twice.

Amazing how Geelong fans conviently forget David Clarke Snr (Pyramid Building Society) and especially Gary Ablett Snr, two pricks who have ruined/destroyed lives.

Heard s**t things about Micky Turner as well, and Paul Chapman once thumped a young woman outside a Geelong nightclub.

The propensity of Cats fans to gloss over/ignore the scully acts several of their champions have done (esp Ablett Snr) staggers me.

Oh and John 'Sam' Newman as well.
Yep Turner done the old ‘wind the window up’ ploy.

Very harsh on both.

Libba was an on baller who got hammered by all and sundry for the first 75% of his career. Never complained. Then Wallace decided he would be cut from the list and Libba did whatever was required to stay in the team. Last few years of his career were not pretty. He is not the only player in AFL/VFL history to use underhand tactics, far from it. I personally am not ashamed of him at all, he is a great story of persistence, determination and self belief. He got everything possible out of himself and bled for the dogs.
Whitten was surely a tough player, but a product of his era, no worse or better than most greats of the 50's and 60's. Also well known for doing good things around the western suburbs. Totally disagree with this comment about him.
Libba was a grub. His on field acts make toby Greene look amateur

This is not a troll - seriously - but interested in the views of St Kilda supporters on the following set of closely-spaced case studies in the 2000s:

1. Andrew Lovett. As previously alluded to, was moved on by Essendon for numerous failings, including being an A-grade POS to his girlfriend. The reasons for his departure were not exactly a state secret, but the Saints took him in. Or at least they did for a year until he was charged with rape.

2. Michael Gardiner. Controversy-magnet at the Eagles at the height of the 'drug culture' era. Well-known for keeping dubious company in the local Perth Motorcycle Enthusiast fraternity and the Unregulated Pharmaceuticals industry. Was the first to be moved on when the club started a clean-out, but the Saints took him in. When he continued to keep questionable company in Melbourne the club said it didn't care.

3. One, possibly two, key players accused of rape but still kept on. Allegations that the club and certain members of the police tried to pull strings to 'make it go away'. After a decade of controversy, the rape charges are dropped but Milne pleads guilty to the 'lesser charge' of indecent assault, in a possible plea-bargain.

4. And, meanwhile, whilst much of this was happening, the president of the club was a self-confessed coke head, who says "he never saw cocaine until he joined St Kilda."

Saints fans? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone...

Terrible player or terrible bloke or both?

How Justin Murphy ever darkened our doors got me. There's Ablett but that's post career. Eagles fans must still feel rankled that someone like a Tom Swift ever pulled on their colours.

This will probably turn in to a s**t fest of accusations and rumours but here's hoping.
That Milburn sure is an onfield POS

That legendary FF off the field was pretty interesting too.

Probably completely off-topic, but I am ashamed that the Lions don’t wear (or even make) long-sleeve guernseys anymore.
And the hypocrisy is that Voss (seen below) was the man who banned the longie from 2009.

(P.S.) I am ashamed of any player in the league that does not pull their socks up / tuck their jersey in.
So… everyone.

To be fair in Gardiner
He’s come out the other end quite well compared to most of his ex eagles team mates. Melbourne the city was good for him

yep and could have been much worse for him if he wasn't given "an offer he couldn't refuse"

Where did he end up post-retirement? Genuinely interested.

Good on him if he could cleanse himself of that influence and move on.

Brandon Ellis. Lovely guy, but a complete squib. Courageous runner but had to really talk himself into a hard ground ball.

This has been mentioned in another thread, but running yourself into exhaustion is a form of courage in its own right. It's hilarious to me that simply because that form of courage is bruise free that it makes supporters hate their own players.
If you have a team of inside players you'll be killed on the outside and vice versa. It takes all sorts.

Would much rather Andrew Gaff in my side than Cam Ellis-Yolmen for example.

Pretty sure Colliers International bought his real estate business.

Aaron James is best known for a handful of games at Richmond and Collingwood but also spent a year at the Bulldogs in the early 2000s.

Has a lengthy wrap sheet including: affray, urinating on 2 women in a bar, threatening an umpire, fighting a spectator, throwing chairs at a football tribunal panel, domestic violence, breaching an AVO, and drug trafficking. Not a nice man.

His Wikipedia page is interesting reading.
Had more clubs than Greg Norman
