Shiel has been absolutely amazing so far and he still has levels IMO, He makes us an entirely different team, Teams need to set up differently around stoppages against us now. rapt with him so far.
Yesterday showed how dangerous he can be. Absolute star. Breaks lines.

Essendon have true speed. Setting up to be an epic Anzac Day match

Yep. Only thing missing from his game is kicking goals. We know he can do it, but he's missed a few.
Sad to say it's never been a strength of his. Doesn't seem to be any reason why. Perhaps maturity will sort it.
Go back a few years and Devon Smith was similar, way to good a kick to have his record in front of goal. He looks a lot more effective with you and I put it down to experience.

0.5 at the moment. He might be overthinking it. Hopefully he can break the drought so that his confidence increases. Smith and Stringer were like that at the beginning of their career with us. Overthinking it too much.

Shiel will be fine.

Neale and Shiel have been standouts in teams that were bottom 8 last year getting a decent start to the season.
Hard to ignore those two at this very early stage

The pies use of roughead has freed up Moore to play his natural game. Can’t ignore that in terms of an influence.

I'm glad Essendon supporters love him already. He's a brilliant player and an even better person. His first 5 steps out of a pack are just incredible, and you are absolutely correct, teams often need to employ a spare player about 10 metres off a pack to account of his ability to accelerate into space.

Thrilled to see him continuing to do well :thumbsu:

Roughead doesn't even make the poll?

Not exactly starring, but he's played every game and done a job.

BUT... The question in the OP is about influence at their new club. Roughead has allowed us to keep Mihocek forward and to have Moore run around a bit more freely at half back.

Pretty handy trade for pick 75.

Couldn’t fit them all in but this is a good call.

Sam Lloyd (Richmond to Bulldogs) and Anthony Miles (Richmond to Gold Coast)

Couple other tigers traded I don't think they've even had games yet but the above two are definitely worth a mention

Hmmm. Ones averaging 16 disposals, the other 29. Obvious which one is having a bigger influence. Shiel was exactly what Carlton need.

Different strokes for different folks. We are building towards our next flag, we simply didn't have any trade assets that would satisfy GWS for Shiel, plus he is 26 this year, by the time we enter our premiership window, he would almost be cooked.

Very happy with our draft and trade period last year, all our recruits have had a positive impact (one way or another), yes we haven't won yet, but haven't been flogged either, and overall we are a much better version than the poo we served up last year.

This thread is about players having an impact at their club in 2019, not their impact in 4 or 5 years from now.

You can try and spin revisionist history as much as you want but nothing will make it true. Carlton were ready to sell the farm for Shiel, they thought a private jet to Noosa would seal the deal, reality is he just didn't want to go there.
