I think Watson and Davies will def both play.

White prob will too. He is High on our KPD depth chart.

Doubt Kerr will play. If there is any positition well covered
It's half fwd or fwd pocket.

Rest is pretty spot on though.

It can be a real positive if your bottom 10 don't play much at all. Normally it means your top 20-30 players are going well and injury free. It will be a really good sign, for example, if McLean doesn't play any games for you next year because it'll mean Judd, Murphy, Robinson, Curnow, Ellard (and others ahead of him) are fit and in form.

White is a favourite of Rattens and will be very close in Round 1. Will play games. Davies seems to be rated by Ratts too, so he will play a few games. Not convinced we will see Mitchell in the regular season. For all the build up on here, he has only played 1 VFL reserves game. Heyne will play, you can almost bookmark it.[/quote]

Really?

I may fire up a thread on Heyne then. Wonder how that may go?

Watson will be in our starting 22 by season's end; we'll be fast-tracking his development for the 2013 premiership. Not like we have amazing KPD depth to keep him out either.

White will only play if we have injuries. Started okay but is too short and too timid to be anything more than a pinch-hitter. Laidler went past a long time ago.

Kerr, O'Keeffe and Casboult will all be delisted without playing a game in 2012. None play in a position we desperately need - Rowe will steal any thunder Levi had.

I think Heyne will definitely play at least half a dozen games - you don't pick a mature rookie unless he's ready to step up.

McInness and Carter would be my smokeys to debut. A latent x-factor once they get AFL ready.

Not convinced Collins and Mclean will earn a spot in our team.

We'll rest Betts or Garlett some time through the year you'd think. Give Kerr a game then! When do we play GWS?

People need to be careful with their expectations of Mitchell, he managed what, half a VFL reserves game last year? Has missed a lot of footy.

Agreed.
Carlton played 37 last year and not out of want.
Chances are that if you've only had to use 28 -32, you're in a good position.
Carlton has announced that it will use a rotation type policy, but I doubt that necessarily extends to using 37+ players.

There are just going to have to be some good players missing out next year.
Geelong played 35 iianm. Chances are if you only play 28 you have no depth.

Like Watson, I think McInnes may have a chance of playing a few games next year. Got a feeling he will make the grade sooner than later.

Was going through the list the other night.

Only players i can't see getting a game unless extraordinary circs:

Buckley, Bootsma, O'Keefe, Casboult, McLean and Kerr.

I have a clear top 27 players who i think Ratten will use as a basis of the team throughout the year.

Laidler Jamison Joseph
Yarran Henderson Duigan
Gibbs Judd Scotland
Garlett Waite Simpson
Walker Kruezer Betts
Warnock Robinson Murphy
Tuohy Curnow Carazzo Bower
Hampson Russell Rowe Ellard Lucas

Then about 10 more maturing/and or depth players who can be used when needed or when the time is right for them.

Thornton and Armfield say hello!

Sorry Harks, called away before hitting post.....

and you are right, Geelong definitely chose to play so many players as I think we will.

So there is 29 just in that list there, without White or Mclean getting a game or a single first gamer. Cant imagine we could go a season without a first gamer, and no more games into Watson, would also be quite unusual in his development.

Added to the TW's list of 26 (Rowe is in his list) were these 10: Mclean, White, Setanta, Okeefe. Watson, Austin, Thornton, Army, 2me, Collins that got a game last year.

Of those, 2me, Aussie and Irish are gone. So of players that got a run last year 34 of them are still available and there would have to be at least 2 more that we would expect to see for the first time (Rowe and Heyne is my call). Of course some from last year wont get a game. Expect some of those will be the 3 mandatory delists but as for who, who knows, as of now we have 40 players all capable of playing every game.

Its going to be a great year to be Blue.

And we only have 1 old guy on the whole list. Heater.

Only six 27/28 yo's...Judd, Simmo, Waite, Thornton, Carrots and Duigan.

And 35 who are 25 and under.

Years of finals ahead. Might need one or two more STARS to win No. 17.

I've got my doubts about Watson making it at the top level, just does not attack the ball hard enough. Mitchell & McCarthy on the other hand could provide a key part of our spine for the next 10 years. Just a hunch.

Wouldn't be shocked if one of bell Rowe mitchell mCcathy and Watson be best 22 by the end of the year. Also can see Kerr heyne and casboult being handy depth for walker/garlett/Waite/betts/hampson

He has been in the system for a year and a half though.
Heppell had not played one game before last year, yet did O.K. in his first year.

You're right though.
It is a big ask of Mitchell to make the grade next year but let me tell you, he is asking very hard.
Heppell played great footy the year before though, which was the point I was trying to make; Mitchell hasn't played ANY footy, and even in his two years before being drafted missed chunks of the season.
His performances at TAC level after coming back from the injury layoffs were very solid so he does have that on his side.

:)I agree pretty much with your players who won't get a game in 2012.
I think you have to add Thornton into your playing list. He has now become a very versatile player. The type Ratten likes to have on the park.
I would think this year we will choose a different team most weeks. Depending on the makeup of the opposition and where we are playing.
Ratten wants speed and aggression.
The players who comply more regularly to the game plan will be played.
He wants a good balance between height, skill & speed.
Some players may not be asked to travel.
If we can get away to a good start and have something like 8 wins out of the first 10/11 games then you will see much more resting of players.:confused::confused:

The following players are those who I do not expect to see represent the Carlton Football Club in a senior game in 2012:

Dylan Buckley
Rhys O'Keeffe
Josh Bootsma
Levi Casboult
Tom Bell
Blake Bray
Mitch Carter
Frazer Dale
Nick Heyne
Matthew Lodge

Of those, Heyne, Casboult and ROK would be the most likely.

Mitchell, McCarthy & McInnes would all be in the next category of players. Seeing them in Navy Blue may be unlikely but I think we'll see them feature in some capacity.

All other listed players, I believe, will play at least one senior game in 2012.

Serious question: Where does the faith in McInnes come from?

I just feel as though I can tell you more about Lodge than I can about Andy Mac.
Possibly the most invisible player we have at the CFC.
Solid frame, good height. Every time I've seen him his kicking has been very good. At around ~191cm he offers a bit of versatility.
