Which premiership team had the most dominant finals series (criteria AFL era)

Yep Essendon now that is a dominant finals, is that the best to peoples knowledge although I will say Richmonds is two series in 3 years, but 2000 is the standout.

125 points
45 points
60 points

total 230 just pipping Geelongs total.
Actually Geelong's total in 2007 was also 230 (106 + 5 + 119)

To answer the OP, neither 2017 or 2019 were the most dominant finals series performances in the AFL era

Geelong 2011 makes it at 5, 2007 doesnt as you only won by 5 points in one of the games.

Thread title doesn't mention Richmond as it causes too much heart ache amongst supporters like yourself, and we know they are not the most dominanat if you read some of the thread you would already know this.

Thread title may not mention Richmond but the OP asked the question, "is Richmonds two Premiership years the two most dominant in the history of football"?

It feels silly to draw a line through Geelong 2007 when that team won two finals by over 100 points. Also if we allowed Geelong 2007 we could nominate Hawks 2014, which doesn't quite feel right. However, I think a cumulative margin of over 200 points throughout the series should be a reason to overlook the 2007 prelim and put that Geelong team on the list

Hawthorn in 2008, dominant and beat some genuinely elite teams to get there.

Geelong in 2008 were set to be the only team in AFL history to match up with the 2000 Bombers, despite a genuinely mistifying 86 point loss to Collingwood in Round 9.

Some of the names in Geelong's 2008 GF side:

Ablett, Bartel, Chapman, Corey, Enright, Harley, Johnson, Ling, Scarlett, Selwood. All time players amongst that list. Coming off a season finishing on top of the ladder with 1 loss and 168%.

St Kilda's prelim side was no joke, nor was the Doggies' elimination finals side.

All things considered it was probably our best, most impressive finals series in that time frame. Not just the fact that we won each game pretty comfortably, but that we beat some genuinely good teams with Hall of Fame players to do it.

I remember our finals percentage in 2017 was in the same league as Gellong 2007, Essendon 2000 and two other teams I think. Can't remember what it was but only 5 teams have done it. Think it was a finals percentage of >140% or something.
227% v 180%

Geelong won the finals series by more points, and won the GF (which is the most important game) by 119 points which is a record margin.

Geelong 2007 was the most dominant finals series in the AFL era, followed by Essendon in 2000

Its a legitimate question champ why does it rustle your jimmies.

If you read we have now found the following

1 Ess 2000
2 Hawks 2008
3Coll 2010
4 Rich 2019
5 Rich 2018

Geelong while having a brilliant 2007 series miss as they only beat Collingwood by 5 points in one of the finals, so not a dominant win although their points difference for the series sits at number 2.
Wrong. Points difference in 2007 is 230, same as Essendon 2000

*ing lol at including a team that only won a single final as well as a team that didn't even win its first attempt at a grand final. Reading through this thread is painful, OP is a full blown pelican

Your maths is terrible. There are so many mistake in those winning margins its not funny. Seek tutoring.
I was scratching my head too, then realised those scores are just the points for and against after half time in those games.

Go back to the Bay champ, don't need to stalk my threads, its enough having to hear your coach moan without you adding to it.

If you read the thread, you would realise Collingwood addition is a mistake

2018 is not included that's a typo now fixed, requirement is win all finals dominantly hence why Geelong 2017 isn't included while 2011 is.

Join in or move along, I know this is on the mb that's why I told you to go back to the bay, when your mumk reads these to you ask her for some context as well.

Hawks 2008 is currently number 2 on the list, still no one bettered Essendon in 2000.

I understand what your saying but I wanted teams that dominated each game, they only beat Coll by 5 points, if they had made a huge comeback I would have included it, the game was close all day, I was looking for games that by 3/4 time supporters could pretty much sit back and enjoy a beer.

I just like poking holes in your dumb theorycrafting you use to try and include your team.

All games had to be dominant wins 5 points v collingwood is not dominant, Ess 2000 is number 1 so far.
Geelong 2011 is in the running, while 07 Cats were very dominant in 2 games and totak winning margins for all 3 finals rate = top, you couldnt sit back and relax at 3/4 time against Collingwood knowing it was over.

If you want it to be total winning margins over the fianls start a new thread and without doubt 07 will be second best.

Your not achieving anything with your silly knitpicking, I find your saltiness highly amusing.

2019 is actually the most dominant GF win in history, not largest that goes to the Cats 07 but without a doubt the most dominant.
