92.

18 a great game and one of the all time great grand finals but our first flag, coming over the top and matera's 5 goals from the wing it's one of the most historic games of football for all clubs. We took the cup away from the Vics against a team of champions led at FF by a guy many consider to be the greatest player of all time.

Definitely agree '92 is all time.

Also the day S Lycett burst forth from the womb crying "Up The B****y Coasters!"

1994

Side pulverised the pussies and would destroy any of our other premiership sides (pretty much is the best side of all time).

Also has the huge plus of being able to make purple muppet loving mates squirm when reminded of how passionate WC supporters they were at the time.

Confirmed it takes a special sort of flakiness to be able to switch sides within comp (i.e. you didn't see any Cardinal supporters go to East Perth just because they aligned with the Eagles).

I was too young to fully appreciate 92/94. But as OP said 92 being the first and 94 being so dominate.

06 was my favourite, because I was there. 15 metres away from Dean Cox jumping up and down as the siren went.

Bill Brownless would be very flattered by that high praise.

Was born in 92 and too young in 94. Didnt really appreciate 2006 being 14 or 15.

I'll say 2018 purely because i understood how hard they are too come by. The 2018 season was a surprise and was great to be a part off as a supporter.

Wish we could get that flare and hunger back.

It's hard to go past 2006 for me. It was an awesome effort from everyone, especially from our mids, such an arm wrestle and I'm glad we were able to get revenge from 2005.

I became a fan in '95 (wasn't aware of '92 & '94 until a few years later)

1992 - really mediocre start to the season, some of our worst 90s form came in the first several weeks of '92, still outside the top 6 in Rnd10, and entered finals in 4th.

R1 - Bye
R2 - lose to Sydney by 3
R3 - beat Saints by 33
R4 - lose to Geelong by 24 (at home, conceded 95pts in 1st half)
R5 - draw Bears (first time they hadn't lost to us)
R6 - beat Tigers by 1
R7 - lose to Roys by 20

So by end R7, our best effort against the bottom 4 from '91 was a 1pt win. West Coast won just as many games (21) in '91 as they did, combined! We are failing to win in places like the SCG, Carrara, North Hobart. i.e. places that Vic teams would have to travel to as well.

Then we turned it around, established the lose-one-then-win-one truism and won our first flag. The '92 GF until time on in the 3rd is underrated among neutrals and one of my faves, just a ferocious contest where Geelong were well in the game and of course all those classic Eagle goals.

1994 - our most emphatic flag, minor premier, defensively imposing, GF blowout in 2nd half. Only Carlton consistently looked a spoiler and they were bundled out of finals quickly. Hurt a little by our other 3 GF wins being neutral-vintage and more up against it, but that 1994 finals series in general was packed with thrillers.

2006 - my first flag as a fan. My parents were bloods, so the thrilling rivalry was bigger than Ben Hur. I was in Year 11-12 during this period. So in terms of needing it, this will never be topped. After that loss to Collingwood in Rnd 16, it looked like it wasn't going to be our year, then we had that ecstasy of dismantling the Crowbots the next week. The QF loss, PF deficit, and Goodes goal to kick off the last quarter, were further tests of resolve that we overcame. Also those comebacks when Embley was acting captain. The horror offseasons in 06/07, 07/08, the 07 straight sets and the swift 08 bottom-out made it all the more circumspect but precious in hindsight. I was also the same cohort age as the 2006 draftees which with Schoey have finally closed the book.

2018 - Lost a few old champions, were written off and predicted to slide from the 8, I had written off LeCras, Richmond had their most intimidating season, and yet the cards fell our way. Overcoming the Magpies twice and that vault first half against the Demons capped a fortunate finals series for us. Doing it without 3 of our finest as well was a little bittersweet but underlined the scale of achievement.

In terms of the overall season, 1994 wins out easily just for how unanimous it was. 1992 had the most question marks, but winning that first flag away from Victoria took guts. 2018 historically wasn't too terrifying (in years like 1991, 2005 and 2015 we had more of a capacity to embarrass the opposition and persevere on arrogance alone), but there was something deeply satisfying about it. 2006 will always be the canon one for me given my circumstances at the time. After flirting with switching clubs in 2000-04, it was bandwagoning the Judd Brownlow and 2005 Wizard Cup that really wrestled me back firmly, and 2006 in hindsight cemented me as an Eagle for life.

1992 - first flag; first flag won by a non-Victorian team; Mainy jumping off the bench will always be an iconic moment to me; Peter Wilson's over-the-head goal has always been one I've remembered

2018 - unexpected flag; even moreso given we were missing Naitanui, Gaff and Shepherd; dug deep; epic game; Sheed goal

2006 - the best game and, combined with 2005, the most epic series of Grand Finals but as mentioned earlier, tarnished by the aftermath

1994 - business as usual; Matera, Mainwaring, Kemp, Jakovich, Worsfold, McKenna, Sumich, Heady, etc. become dual premiership players

I was too young to experience 92/94.

06 was great.

18 was completely unexpected eventhough we suffered a defeat in 15.

I was a bag of nerves watching the last 2 premierships so im hoping the next one will be over by half time and i can enjoy it unfold.

Not even a debate, 92 by a country mile...As Barnes wins it but straight to the run of Matera, from 55, he sets sail for home with a mighty kick!!
It also cemented my dislike of Ablett snr(w***er) in a big way for his cheap shot on Pyke.

Worsfold 92 Premiership

"Fantastic Five:
Peter Matera's best

It's amazing that the first three goals are from outside 50m. Players these days don't often take those shots as they have been drilled to go the higher % option and hit up someone inside 50. It is awesome to see a long bomb land truly!
