They won't get chances but Matty Knights and Scott Waters got ****ed pretty badly by the Bombers & Saints.

Knights had Essendon playing some really exciting, attacking football but he got knifed for the golden boy Hird.

Watters was telling the Saints the truths they needed to hear; 2nd place is not success. That the club was hanging onto a culture that accepted failure.

He was getting great games out of guys like Arryn Siposs

The senior players kicked up a stink and had him removed.

Rekon both of them could have been pretty good coaches if they had boards that actually backed them in rather than using any excuse they could to get rid of them.

Not a great time to be looking for a new coach. If Yze and McQualter were the best of the assistants, it is not saying much for the other untried coaches. Longmire would be the best of the tried coaches but he has a long history of failing at the final hurdle now.

I wouldnt blame Longmire. Or just Longmire. Blame the players too. 4 losses speaks volumes and being belted in 3 of them. 2016 imo umpires heavily favoured the Dogs.

Now if Hird was to slot in as a line coach for a few seasons and prove himself, he may be ok for another shot as head coach. Granted that’s a big if right now.
