He was my first thought, but from a "needs" perspective he isn't a huge need.
I'd take Walters over him every day, although i'd swap Ballas out for the Wizz in an instant.

Walters has X-factor but he doesn't have Farmer's x-factor. Either player is fantastic at what they do/did.
Farmer for the Ballas seems an even trade given discipline issues. Both of them rile up opposition crowds just the same.

Stephen O'Rielly would be it for me. Superb full back who would thrive in our defensive system. Big, strong, good skills, liked to run off his forward, ok, it didn't take much to run off plugger, and his delivery was pretty good.
Roger as a second option.

Headland was a disappointment at Fremantle but he is one player who would have thrived under Lyon. And unlike any current day Fremantle midfielders, he absolutely loved kicking a goal.

I reckon Dessie would have got a bit of Lyons speech to Walters, ......................... there's a spot for you if YOU extract all your digits !!!.

Unfortunately, overall with Dessies natural talent, to falls into the category of lazy.

I'd take JLo, Clem, Genius, Mods & Bennie Allan in a heart beat.

Clive and Mr Parker, for sentiment.

I was thinking The Wiz too; at his best he was a joy to watch.
Yeah wiz was one of my faves. Then we would have Ballas, son son ,wiz , Pav , Modra,Sandi in the forward line. Yeah that would be good with our blue chip midfield bombing it into them. Great celebrations all round ay

JLo - Perfect modern day Ruck/FF and allows for a heap of team balance elsewhere
Hayden - Elite BP we have missed
Either Haddrill/O"Reilly - KPB's who were quality at their peak (albeit in Robbie's case for about 1 year)

I dont care what era your playing or who is in our midfield, you could always do with someone of Peter Bell's quality as well.. guy is criminally underrated on this board and pretty much throughout the AFL.

None of us got to see what Clem Michael would become as a player and I'd have him for sentimental reasons before J-Lo and The Flying Korean Brick can fill the missing dwarf spot in our midfield.I'd hope you're wrong about his rating across the AFL and particularly amongst our own.
After winning Sowfs B&F in '94 Peter Bell's career included

Peter Bell Criminally underrated ?

Name his one exceptional attribute upon which he would get a game ahead of any of our current mids.

Why does he need an "exceptional" attribute?

How about this:
- elite gut running ability (albeit not pace-wise)
- always providing an option to receive and be a link up option
- ability to gather shitloads of touches ... [let's make this the exceptional attribute]
- skillful, courageous, hard working
- could kick a goal (not a great strength), but did kick 4 in a GF
- leadership qualities and footballing (and general) IQ ... [this could be another exceptional attribute]

You are delusional if you think Bell wouldn't walk into our side. He would most likely be our #1 or #2 possession winner. He won a B&F in a NM side during an era that they won premierships with the likes of Carey, Stevens, Archer, etc. Could have easily won a Norm Smith. If you put him in our current side, he would either be the captain or vice-captain (raffle with Pav).

About 40 games with 30 touches or more;but you're right Alfonz the notion that a player must have a single exceptional attribute kinda gives the game away.
Possibly exceptional to be that good and and still go 'whooosh' straight past someone's eyes.
Also in our current set up he'd be lifted by the team instead of trying to lift it.We'd see a very different Peter Bell.
We haven't had too many skippers but Bondy and Peter Mann are the ex-skippers who wouldn't make the current 22 on form.To be fair to them both, they played their worst footy with us despite trying their guts out.
