Is Santa a saints man? He'd surely win wouldn't he?

316 km to Linton Street for me and 323 km to Docklands.

Perhaps we should have an award for longest day trip to attend a regular match. All up a day game day for me is a minimum 14 hour round trip.

So Round 1 2020 (North V Saints 1.10 PM Docklands) means a 7.00AM start with a 2 hour drive, then 2 1/4 hour train trip.

That gets me there with just enough time to have lunch and a couple of beers with some mates before the game, then throw in a quick meal on the way home means I get back home at 9.00PM at the earliest.

Superb effort. Do you go to all Docklands games?

Nah mate - just because I'm a Saints supporter doesn't mean I'm completely loopy.

Usually do the long day maybe 2 or 3 times a year depending on the fixture. Add in a couple of weekends in Melbourne and I'd usually get to 4 to 6 games a year.

I see that this year we have only one 1.10 game (ideal time) and another 2.30 start at Docklands. So maybe only 2 long days this year.

Early bounce ups your time are brutal for me, with evening starts much easier.

Edinburgh is further away than Toronto.

Madrid and Lisbon are even further.
Pretty sure there is a few who live on another planet on here and have us all covered

Work at Southbank. Excellent for Restaurants and bars.

Not far from the CBD (or the mainland ad we call it).
Crown casino is also there if you are into that sort of thing, also has cinema's and restaurants etc.

Thanks fellas I'm a bit lost, its a big place and I don't have much of an idea.
I'd like somewhere with a couple of good pubs in the vicinity, some live pub bands would be good, access to shopping and cafes, wherever I go I'll just walk around the joint. I'm a bit over casinos these days to be honest.
Staying at the grand hyatt for the conference but its like $350 per night so I'll move out find something else afterwards.

Winner

If I ever visit Melbourne (Grand final???) I expect to be made welcome in the home of the Saints fan nearest MCG and to have a free all you can eat/drink day.
You'd be welcome but I'll warn you the Bobby Firmino and Poetry in Motion songs are going to remain on high rotation for years to come 😁

Yeah we used to stay at southbank.
Freshwater Place in Platinum Apartments...then they literally doubled the price.
Great spot tho short walk to tram stop, casino for food downstairs
Meat Company decent steaks for sure but tbh not worth what they charge
We now stay out in the burbs and i drive in and park in southbank DFO carpark all day for 25$ if u spend 50$ in DFO....when youre married thats easy as hell lol
Then we drive back out to the burbs

Ok Southbank it is and now daughter and partner decide they want to fly down from Brisbane and stay with me and come to the game. Next question what is the best part of marvel to sit??? I’m going to pre purchase our tickets. it’s a bit of a one off so not worried about price.

Level 2 on the wing is clearly the best place to watch footy in Australia
