One-sixth of quite a bit: Alex Rance leaves $1.4 million on the table
Alex Rance agreed to a settlement in which he was paid one-sixth of his estimated $800,000 annual salary, giving up a total close to $1.4 million in their salary cap over this year and 2021.

With 1.4 million room in the cap Richmond can afford 2 free agents. They'd have to be really good players though, probably the best at their current club, and they'd need to take pretty big pay cuts to come and play for the biggest club in the land. In return, they're guaranteed multiple premierships.
Of course, any player that Richmond taps on the shoulder will happily abandon their current club to play for the best. So who are you most afraid of losing? Will the AFL yet again introduce a raft of rule changes in a desperate attempt to bring Richmond back to the field?
