Murphy was born in 87, which counts him out of this equation. If he was included so would Buddy, Tippett etc..

At the moment, the majority of the players mentioned are untried and are only rated on where they went in the draft/BF hype train.

Not true. As you can see, I put a * next to the players who are rated on draft number only. Given they are a pick 1,1 and 2 that's fair enough surely. The other 7 have all shown plenty on the field.

Go back a number of years and Carlton has Murphy (1), Walker (2), Judd (3), Mclean (5) who were all high draft picks, 3 of whom will form the nucleus of our midfield in 2010. I'm not as intimate with Melbourne's list but the only top 5 pick I can think of 22 or over would be Sylvia (3), who'd come second to last amongst that group of 5.

Judd actually cost you pick 3 and 4 and McLean is not a pick 5 he is a pick 11. That's depreciation.
