Clarko is unfortunately past it.

For a team like North, absolutely.

Give him a team who has a list in contention to win it all and Clarko would be great, seeing he's a fantastic coach in his element. However, he showed at the end of his run at Hawthorn he doesn't have the stomach for a rebuild at this point of his career, and North needs to rebuild everything at the club.

I think it is a stretch to say he doesn't have the stomach for it, he and the club went down a different list strategy hoping that the remaining members of the three peat team would be enough to allow them to top up. Obviously it didn't work but it is a different situation, he clearly would know what he is getting himself in to at North.

Not even close to comparable, What a weird comparison

Dropped for his first game home in Adelaide, chance to play in front of family and friends

What a way to endear yourself to a player already struggling with homesickness

And don't talk about selection integrity

When Stephenson is playing
You talk about selection integrity while also suggesting they should pick him so he can play in front of his family?

He hasn't been living up to the expectations so he isn't playing.

Clarko was on record near the end of his Hawks coaching career that he couldn't rebuild a club in a compromised AFL, so yeah, he doesn't have the stomach for it.

Fair enough too, with 4 premierships under his belt, he's earned that right.

LDU is taking the piss with. 28 touches 11 contested at 79% with 1 goal 6 score involvements 565 metres gained 8 clearances (7 centre) & 9 inside 50s and there’s more than 10 minutes to go in the third..

No s**t talking from me today regardless of the results (it's all good fun). Just happy to see Cunnington out there.

By all accounts a champion bloke and who knows if he will ever go back to his pre-illness form but he will be immensely important for development of the young mids both on the field and on the training track.

Darcy Fogarty has kicked 28 goals in his last 11 games. Now justifying why he was taken in the first round in the 2017 draft. Ned McHenry hasn’t been too bad lately either.

This idea that Adelaide is screwing over other clubs is ridiculous.

What we expected to give up last year, and what I hope we do this year, is more or less in line with what we have received for our departing players in the past.

In 2017 we gave up Charlie Cameron for pick 12. Cameron at that point is the closest comparison to Rankine I can think of, but we’re “screwing them over” by not wanting to give up pick 4 without getting something back?
I find peculiar that there sone neutral fans who criticise Adelaide for being hard at the trade table, but don’t do the same to other clubs who have doing it for years.
Especially when historically Adelaide have been pushovers at the trade table.

Suggests they’re either stupid, biased, don’t follow the history of the trade period or sone combination of all 3.

There were multiple deals last year that were similar in that players went for similar picks that they were drafted for - Cerra, CCJ as examples.

Yet, you can’t understand how Rankine isn’t worth pick 4… Lol

Those are pretty bad examples though.
Cerra’s first 4 seasons were better and more consistent than Rankine.

As for CCJ, that trade was hilarious, it was never worth that (and not because psd). That was just a fail by north.

The crows just struggled to beat us at home when we had no bench in the last quarter and our best 2 kids in JHF and TT playing in the reserves.

Close thread.

One is playing in the reserves because you thought disciplining him was more important than retaining his services.

The other is averaging under 13 possessions a game in the firsts, and has kicked 2 goals for the year after kicking 24 and averaging 18 disposals last year.

I assume we're closing the thread because one of your two best kids will be leaving as soon as he can, and the other has struggled to get a game in your firsts recently, and these are your best two? Yes, close it now!

He's being disciplined as standards have been raised on expected levels of professionalism. He responded today in the right way.
And we've already retained his services, he's contracted to us.

He's had a tough year personally, as well as also lacking some professionalism, but has also improved in recent weeks.
