The crows just struggled to beat us at home when we had no bench in the last quarter and our best 2 kids in JHF and TT playing in the reserves.

Close thread.

Mate North played some of the most inspired football they have all year and still couldn't get within four goals of us once all is said and done.

yes, because we had no bench in the last quarter. 22 versus 18 was always going to win. If you were any good you would have beaten us by more than just 4 goals.

How much of norths 46.9% in the poll is jhf? Categorically have the shallowest talent pool of the 3
You must be kidding ! serious talent on the list, just need a coach who can implement a functioning system and a couple more pre seasons. Look out !

He’s not. You have more unproven youth than the rest and speculation. You lack the backline and forwardline the others have. Midfield is the easiest to build.

Compared to us and hawks simply not true. A few more drafts might change that but if you went through each young player for each squad north would be the first to dry up at the moment. You have a few potential guns and it then falls away sharply

All that talk about Hawthorn BFTB in preseason, they have a lot of work to build an elite future back 6, despite their supporters thinking they already have all the pieces

Who'd have thought the Hawks were a Tom Lynch away from disaster.

The race for pick 4(?) is on. It's a race to the bottom with the crows.

Is it really a race when the other side isn't even competing (seeing Adelaide will end up going balls to the wall to knock off Port next week and are likely to trade the pick)?

Is it time to add Essendon to the thread?
Our youth is far superior 😎

Cleric do it

North have the better top end young talent IMO. This was on display in yesterday when LDU dismantled the entire Adelaide midfield. I don’t see a future A grader in the Crows midfield, whilst North have multiple.

Yeah, Sicily in the midfield. This was a percentage tank in the hope it helps our draft hand. Unlikely North, Hawthorn already have enough brave losses this year to give the players some hope. The dropped percentage probably deemed more valuable than another valiant loss today. CJ, Frost and Bramble all injured. DGB still a couple more pre-seasons away from being big enough to have any chance against a player of Lynch's size.

It certainly isn’t “elite” like Dommy was carrying on about in here all preseason. I still think you need a high quality KPD (I think DGB will be a solid number 2).

And yet Adelaide won comfortably in the end. Most of Adelaide’s high end talent just isn’t in the midfield

Yes, that's a fair assessment based on what we saw today. Although any of DGB, Jeka and Blanck could be that, it is just too early to tell. DGB needs to put on weight before he can compete as a #1 KPD, listed as 81kg, which is super light for a guy at 195cm. The other two have played too few games to really have any idea on where they'll end up (and Jeka only just started playing at defensive end).

Note we won the last quarter which was the only quarter Sicily played entirely in defense (and yes I'm sure the queue was well and truly in the rack by then, but not sure you can take much out of a game where a team plays Sicily in the midfield while an opposition forward kicks 8). The "eliteness" of our back half hasn't been helped by Impey going backwards, and Day struggling to stay on the park long enough to play himself into form. Not having CJ or Bramble on the park and Impey being in poor form also makes us look sluggish on transition (especially when we don't have Sicily back to deliver out of the back half by foot). Still think our complete back line is very good, but yeah, been searching for Lake's replacement since he retired, and the search is definitely not over...
