Now i consider myself to be a pretty big NBA fan and don't really follow a team (I chose Utah due to a bit of a man crush on D-Will):p. Well I was staying with them cos they were alright but this year they just look average. A pretty big loss to SAC on their home floor is pretty embarrasing. Only positive for them is New York's pick.

Now i'm not sure who to really follow. i'm thinking I dont want to just support Boston or LA and be a bandwagoner. Maybe a nice building team that will be up their soon or a young team that will enjoy a big rebuild.

OKC (KD and Westbrook :thumbsu:)
Chicago (Derrick :D)
Indiana (Granger :p)
Milwaukee (Aussie connection and Jennings looks good)
NJ (Harris and Lopez are studs and their is the LeBron possibility plus a top pick coming up.)

Im probable leaning towards CHI, OKC or NJ.., I know most of you will just say it's my choice but I'm just wondering what you guys think.

Hey RW&B

I was in a similar situation a while ago. Big time basketball fan, but didn't have ties to a particular franchise. I supported the Spurs because my brother did and they were always on TV but I wanted my own team to follow closely.

I chose OKC after they drafted Westbrook because I wanted to see a team build from (literally) nothing. Additionally I have huge faith in Sam Presti as a GM, he's barely made a wrong move since drafting Durant.

Then I rationed it's okay to support one team from each conference, so I chose Chicago as a secondary team after I saw Rose play. (Plus the MJ thing)

The advice I would give you is don't pick a franchise with a track record of terrible front office decisions. ie: Milwaukee. I can't support them, even with the Bogut Jennings combo because I know the front office will f*ck it up somehow.

Also the Nets may be a good bet now they have the Russian Squagillionaire on their side. They won't run into problems like Phoenix, Denver and New Orleans have had to deal with.

Good luck

Just wait for the playoff and pick your favourite team from the top 2 seeds. That way you have the best shot at a title.

or just want till the final game of the Finals, then make your pick.

to the OP seriously WHY ARE YOU CHANGING TEAMS? EVERYONE HERE ON THE NBA BOARD WILL TELL YOU ITS A TERRIBLE THING TO DO (well almost everyone)....

Pick a team whose colours are Red, White & Blue.

Perhaps you may want to follow a team with history:

Philadelphia 76'ers - so us Laker fans can reminisce with you and fellow 76'er fans about the early 80's and how we would both crap on the Celtics.
Detroit Pistons - so us Laker fans can reminisce with you and fellow Piston fans about the late 80's and how we would both crap on the Celtics.

Or maybe your a loser and want follow fellow losers:

LA Clippers - so us Laker fans can laugh at you.
Atlanta Hawks - so us Laker fans can feel sorry for you.
New Jersey Nets - so us Laker fans can ignore you.

:D:D

Yeah, I love basketball playing at junior and senior level and really enjoy watching and reading about the NBA. However, I have never really set my heart on a particular team.

like the red, white and blue idea.

Im gonna stick with Utah for now as I will find it hard to just change, hence while i still go for the dogs.

Will keep a close eye on OKC though. Love their potential.

That's a massive contridiction. Utah will be no worse than last year while Indiana, NJ and Milwaukee would all be a nightmare to support and will be average for years to come compared to Utah imo.

Every team gets smashed by a team they're expected to beat, so don't jump ship over one embarrassing loss or you'll be jumping ship forever.

It's like me jumping ship because OKC humiliated us by 20+ points. It means very little out of 82 games when it comes down to it.

When you don't have that real connection yet it can be a chore to fight through it, hell I chose the Ravens in the NFL at the start of the year and since you don't have that connection it's tough when you face losses against teams you think you should have beat but the support gets stronger when you tolerate it and get a good win, like the Ravens against the Broncos after a 3 game losing streak a couple of weeks ago. Stay with Utah.

Yeah realised the contradicition after. Will stick with em.... Knicks' pick looking better and better.

Speaking of NFL i chose Tennessee before last year and well I was pleasantly surprised last season. Bit different this year.....59-0 isn't too good huh??? Two in a row now though. Young into the lineup is looking alright :thumbsu:

dude ur a douchebag for even considering changing teams..... gotta stick with ur team thru thick and thin....thought you would understand that being a bulldogs supporter...i have been a lakers fan since i was a kid chose em coz i couldnt stand michael jordan......15 years later i still love em. being a jizz fan aint the worst thing in the world......being a clips or warriors fan would be

I somehow ended up going for the Cavs. I just like the players, coach, logo and colour scheme. Those are the sorts of things you should follow when decided who to go for. It's great because after watching a whole bunch of games on ONE HD I am beginning to know all the players names and get involved in the game like I do with AFL. ;)

I go for the cavs aswell.
I got interested in nba a couple of months ago while watching the magic cavs playoff series. and ever since then cant get enough

I don't exactly go for the Cavs but they are definately my second favourite team, they are so publicised, One HD show them the most, also I love their logo, and my mancrush Lebron. After saying all this I actually go for Orlando, someone bought me a Howard jersey as a gift, and I haven't looked back since

I have a mancrush on Verajau, Mo Williams and LeBron! They're a varied team, that's what I like about them.

BTW Didn't Karl Pilkington (whatever happened to him btw) spend all of the off-season mulling over what team to support in the NBA, but ended up settling on the Knicks ???

What a great decision that turned out to be :D
