IMO Chris Knights will become one of the top 3 under 22 aged midfielders in the competition. Unfortunately I think the wolves will come calling and we will lose him, a premier young midfielder, for peanuts at the end of 2008. Maric, VB, Douglas and porp will be our other big improvers.

No way. Like Reilly, when Adelaide wants too keep a player they will. The snot we have lost in the past I didnt lose a night of sleep over. Welsh, Huddo, Mattner good luck to them. Kane Johnson gave great service and we were well compensated for him (pick 2, although Carey wasnt the best pick in hindsight) and give me another Thommo for Stenglein anyday of the week. VB< DOUGO and CK arent going anywhere... Oh Yeah, Fergus, LOL

I heard Shaun Tait once stared at a batsman so intensely that the mans spleen burst causing him to retire. The man lived out his life in a mental institution.

Hmm... we've certainly been burned, but i think that has more to do with the tools we've sometimes drafted.

I rate Knights as a bloke of quality, and dont think he'll screw the club. I dont think he'd leave, but if he did choose to, i believe hed ensure we were well compensated.

dude, right or wrong, many of our leaving players felt that the club screwed them. you can argue whether you agree or not, what is hard to dispute is that the players did think that way.

at that point, it doesn't matter who is right.

Who cares.

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill, you're talking about these players we have lost and how they feel the clubs screwed them, as if its some long sordid history of it occurring, but no, its just this year funnily around the time the club is embarking on a youth policy and a transition period hmm.....

So we lost some dud overrated lazy misbehaviors, so what, if the club wanted to keep them they would have, where in the past has adelaide been burned by players wanted to leave, in the past we have been compensated.

Presently compensation wasn't needed because the players we lost were average.

Players we lost:

Mattner: Had one good Season in 2005, struggles with his awareness and holding the ball, often puts ball in worse position than when he recieves it.

Scott "3 good games a year" Welsh: Mr inconsistant, plays well against sides with crappy defences, struggles against sides with good defences, but he kicked 2 bags of goals in 2004 so he must be good.

Ben "Curfyou Im going home" Hudson: Best Ruckman in an Average ruck division, Ben Hudson tries hard, he gets the ball, but he is neither young, nor a great ruckman.

John "FIGJAM" Meeson: Meeson, showed nothing, no heart, no effort, no nothing, the sooner he was launched from the club the better.
boo hoo Scott "I hit women with jumpers and only play well 3 weeks in a season" Welsh is gone.

I am simply devastated that we lost these superstars of the game, someone has to SERIOUSLY ADDRESS THIS ISSUE OMG THE CLUB IS GOING TO IMPLODE WITH ALL THESE MUTINOUS PLAYERS OMG WERE DOOMED ARE 16TH ON THE LADDER 2008 WAHHHHHHH HYSTERIA IS NEEEDED WAAAAH!

Prior to pre-season NC had laid down the challenge to Sellar, Vince and Douglas

Dont really care how they felt. I failed my 'empathy for w***ers' course unfortunately.

Either way you want it i feel Knights leaving is highly unlikely. I doubt well 'screw him' anytime soon.

but you're still presuming the rights and wrongs matter. if we don't screw him,. he can't think we have.

surely you can see the inherent flaws in such relativism?

I have no opinion of what will happen to knights, no idea to be honest. BUT I'd have thought he was a very eligible candidate to receive a big offer from a victorian team.

I'm sure then you'll still have people like the clown above, talking him down as a player, and how he should accept a lower offer from us, rather than putting the ball back in our court to do something about it.

No, im not presuming any such thing.

All im simply saying is i think the club will do everything necessary to keep him. As far as other clubs making big offers goes... im assuming at the moment we've had a fair bit of salary pressure relieved in the last year. Ive no reason at the moment to fear Chris Knights leaving.

If a club really wants to keep a player they usually do, with a few exceptions. The problem lies when the club doesn't realize a player's worth and won't try hard enough to keep him. The classic case is Hudson who, for all his faults, was clearly our best ruckman. Unless Biglands has magically improved from being a very average ruckman after a knee reco and another year of age, Maric stops thinking like a basketballer and Griffin shows something we haven't seen yet, our ruck stocks are going to be painfully thin next season.

Hopefully they won't devalue Knights' worth as much in years to come.

From some of the things ive heard people like Triggy saying lately, id suggest that we value these youngsters alot. Id be suprised if we lost any of them for money.

Hi guys

Im from NSW, and whilst I may be a little biased, Taylor Walker is a player to keep an eye on. Hasnt turned 18 yet and the Crows didnt need to draft him this year (he was their scholarship player) but went ahead and drafted him anyway. May not get a game in 2008, but will be a very good player for the Crows long term.

Not a youngster, and I am certain to get flamed by his detractors, but I think this is Luke Jericho's year. Scott Welsh in the team has kept him on the outer often and, in my humble opinion, wrongly.

Of the youngsters, I think Jacky might just be the real thing from about 1/2 way through the season.

One way or the other. This is definitely his make or break year.

Hi there. We've had some pretty hot gossip from the Hill on the young Phantom. See his thread in the Locker Room.

And thanks, but it wont be this year.
