There are a number of players on our list, who divide peoples opinion . Sam Rowe is one of them. He makes mistakes (who doesnt? ) but also does many things that go unnoticed . Overall should we persist or delist?

Not sure it's so black and white. His limitations are fairly obvious but he's also the biggest body in defence we have, the most experienced KPD and is certainly hammered unreasonably by supporters at times.

I expect him to be around for a year or even two more, but through necessity.

Persist. Close thread ;)

He's honest, he's a hard worker, he has picked up being a key defender remarkably well considering he was a ruck/forward for many years.

Has worked on his closing speed. Is a supreme spoiler. Generally has good disposal. If he does go forward he is a lovely kick for goal. Has a good temperament and seems to appreciate being able to play AFL football.

I'm happy to keep committed big men around the club as long as we need to.

I agree. I can add a few "sit on the fence "replies if you like. But at the end of the day its a pole. Just like sos cant sit on the fence at years end either. What would you do at years end? Persist or delist? If unsure then surely you persist

Honest toiler, should be pushed out and playing for Northern Blues to help the development of JGM and others.
Weitering, Marchbank, Plowman and Macreadie I would like to think are sufficient defensive talls for us.
Might take another year to push Rowe out.
If Gibbs to go, I think we try to get Lever as part of the deal which might allow us to keep playing Weitering as a Swingman.

Hes a player that knows his limitations and this season is either under instruction, or plays within himself.

Personally id rather Rowe to play the way he is, if he can kill or break even with 85% of the contests he gets to, thats surely better than him flying for marks and dropping/getting out positioned and only breaking even/winning <50%. Also remember If we were a stronger team and the ball wasnt entering our D50 as much, Rowe's mistakes would be reduced as there would be less entries and less pressure.

I think persist until someone takes his spot, need depth in that position and mature defenders protect the kids from getting Luke Livingston.

Surely the timing of this thread is in bad taste, given he'll likely be omitted tomorrow due to concussion.

Surely we can have an opinion about his fate at years end. I am a rowe supporter FWIW so there is no malice in my post. And by the look of the poll atm I am not alone. By the way- is he definitely out? I heard he is a possibility to play

I like him, but the inclusion of Marchbank and Macreadie should push him out imo.
Yeah he's a big body but Plowman and Marchbank aren't exactly twigs. Plus our defensive setup seemed more effective last year with 3 smalls/mediums down back.

He will probably play but I wouldn't risk him. Even if the doctors give the all clear, there's too much of a grey area with concussion's long term effects still to be uncovered scientifically.

As to the actual topic of the thread... :) Broken record and all, I've made no secret that structurally our current 22 has too many talls. Continuing to develop Macreadie is fine but I wouldn't play both White and Rowe.

should be pushed out and playing for Northern Blues to help the development of JGM and others.
We have Silvagni Alex for that. But yeah, I can't see Jesse getting any game-time for the forseeable future.

Not our best, far from our worst.

Will be overtaken if the kids we have keep developing and reach their potential. Not his fault, does the best he can with what he has.

I really like Rowe and the way he goes about it. Is it enough? At the moment yes but I can see him being passed quickly by the young group. I believe his future could be as a fwd/ruck next to McKay. Big body who will crash packs and will work to right positions and do simple stuff well and bring smalls into game.

Whatever happens should be on list for another 2-3 years yet. Just fills too many valuable roles and will always do a job.
