Pretty simple choice between Holland and Whitnall isnt it?

I think if you guys want another repeat of Ben Holland you should trade for big lance, the big red is past his peak he is too slow for your game style and you guys will regret the trade in years to come. Stick to Paul Johnson, this guy has the potential to become a great player, has it all, liston trophy showed what hes capable of.

Well we have offered Lance a "lucrative" 3 year deal according to Channel 7.

Carlton fans don't want much for him. Some of the proposed trades on "The Blue View" were:

- Miller and 2nd round pick
- Bruce/Green and 1st round pick
- McLean and 2nd round pick
- Rivers straight swap

Ridiculous trades, but at the same time, everyone over-rates trades involving their club.

I'd give up our 1st rounder and a fringe player to Whitnall, as I think with our pick at #12 we won't get anything of a high value, so give it up for a ready made player.

But trade week is looking very interesting for us...

I too would like to see Daniher give Paul Johnson a chance up forward. He should be replacing Ben Holland as the "third tall" and helping to back up Jeff White whenever necessary. If Whitnall arrives and presumably plays up forward, that just means that an opportunity to blood a potentially good young player will go missing yet again. And we will most likely have given up Pick 12, which means our return from the draft will be very poor. And if he is to play as a defender, then that would stop some of our guys development. Down back I would like to see us stick with Rivers, Ferguson and Carroll.

Couldn't agree more If we really want a key forward we should be going for Fevola. I know he has issues but I reckon he's got at least 4 more years of footy left in him than Whitnall and he's a natural replacement for Neita, who sadly seems to be on his last legs.

Yeah but it's one of the most common methods in creating a nickname. Probably the most common way is by shortening names.

Johnson = Johnno
McAnything = Macca
Robertson = Robbo

...and so on.

already been told that he wont be offered a new contract until after trade week. Whether it is by Melbourne or another club is unknown.

My guess is that he will be used as a sweetner in the Whitnall deal. The blues will get a replacement that can take over Whitnalls role for the next year or two while they groom someone younger and better.

Whitnall is better but Holland could do a job.

either that or he is a sweetner in another deal, after we get Whitnall, as we will then not need him anymore. Maybe to the roos for Motlop (ofcourse coupled with picks) or to the lions for copeland or who knows. That's what I love and hate about the trade week, the unknown factor.

We can speculate all we want but in the end, nothing is certain
