It seems to me that the club has decided to accept the recent past, forget it and move on big time.Otherwise Lappin and Red would have been useful just for some experience and leadership.Ratts has been there and knows the players already. If Skinny and Red did not have the right attitude to play hard and set the bench mark for the kids than I agree there was no point continuing with them. Stevens and Judd are natural leaders in actions and words.Fevola when his brain is in gear and when he is not thinking selfishly can also provide these traits. As much as I admire Red for what he has done, it is all about our future. We are doing everything with that in mind. Thanks Lance and come see us play!
Onward and upward all you faithful
Long days and happy nights

You guys amaze me with your comments about Stevo. There is no doubt the guy has heaps of ability. But all this crap about what a great example he sets. So far he runs hard only one way and is hardly setting a great example with accountability. He had a good pre season 07 but in general is so far off what Judd and other champions set it is not funny.

I would love to see him really apply himself for a full season before saying what a great example he is. And if anyone like Audas wants to say I have an agenda then it is to bring some balance to how many Carlton supporters view him. ie; With rose coloured glasses. If people didnt keep making these comments about what a great leader he is:: if they just said he has heaps of ability and they hope he will produce:: then I wouldn't need to keep writing these sort of posts.

Even he would say he wasn't preparing himself as best he could until last year, but he was still pretty good. Anyone who's watched Nick knows that he takes defeat seriously (remember him slamming the ball into the turf at the siren of the Princes Park farewell game?). He's also not shy on gathering the team into a huddle and telling them what to do or giving junior players instructions when needed.

In other words, captain stuff.

Not that it made any difference in 2007, but he'll be my choice for next season.

I'd like to see him run around with Lalor and do kids clinics for the club during the week.

I do hope the club puts his number 8 jumper away for the year to show him some respect.

Its not just the Agenda, its the fact you clearly don't know what you are talking about. You SLAMMED Stevens after he collected 44 possessions in the best game of any player for the season.

Your opinion is based PURELY on a gut feeling you have that he is uncommitted, when in an actual fact he THE most dedicated passionate player in the team. As it turned out the the last two season he has been severely injured but was playing through. This season he refused to tell the coaches that he was injured and was risking death to play, his father stepped in the fix what was a dangerous situation being caused by dedication and passion.

you are a tool pumped, you know nothing about the guy. You judge him unfairly, based on a psychological assessment you have never made.
You have never talked to the guy, or anyone else associated with him in any capacity. Your posts are ridiculous.

Having re-read this post, I have to add:

You are a bigger tool than I first imagined. Absolutely no idea what-so-ever. What the fck are you questioning ? If its his commitment and passion then your the biggest pecker on big footy. There can be no question.

You talk about bias, rose coloured glasses and ability to honestly assess a player yet there is no doubt who it is on this forum who fills this description. The irony, hypocrisy and ultimate stupidity of your posts sees you leading the pack in bias, slanted opinions, prejudice, compromised opinions and a total lack of any football smarts what so ever.

I am yet to see you make a post which is not a re composition of others opinions or sheer lunacy.

Get over your hatred of Nick Stevens. Bagging the guy out is not going to force him to attend one of your "sessions" nor give you any credence for your amateur psychological profiling you do from your dunny.

You are becoming BIZZARE.

ah the humble Collingwood supporter... If only we followed the example you set with the delisting of Collingwood great/overweight forward Saverio Rocca...

Don't come at us with morality.

Audas once again you have lost your composure in bagging someone out. Forums should be about allowing differing opinions. Calling someone a tool for making comments you don't agree with just shows how you do not want open communication on forums. IMO you just want to control any forum post you are involved in. Typical bully tactics.

One thing you definitely don't know is that I have never spoken to him or anyone associated with him. This is an ill informed comment on your behalf as you have no way of knowing this.

Having said this I do not think Nick is a bad person just feel that he doesn't get the best out of himself. Perhaps he will make a great captain. He certainly has the capacity to do so. However imo he has not come close to exhibiting on field the sort of qualities that captains like Johnston, Kernahan, Voss, Buckley, and many others have.

i agree with you. apart from the first games of 2007 he hasn't got near what he is capable of.

200 games is a great performance and I'll try to remember that about Red. I dont want to rubbish a guy now that hes gone

But whats with the development coach idea? Isnt that role supposed to be about young players getting the most out of themselves? Despite Whitnalls career can anyone really say he did that?

That's why i don't like the idea,i rather some guy like Darren Hulme,Anthony Franchina or Ron Delulio, guys who got their best playing a solid 100 games when they could have played a hand full of games.

These guys, that did extra to make something of themselves to make the league.
