Whitnall and his wife have taken out a restraining order against his brother and wife. No contact for 12 mth's!!
Something about an incident at the Zoo!

CARLTON captain Lance Whitnall has been granted an intervention order against his brother and sister-in-law.

Whitnall, 27, and his wife Rhiannon both claim they fear for their safety and that of their family from Whitnall's brother Shane and his wife Tamara.

Documents before Melbourne Magistrates' Court say the two couples had a disagreement about a trip to Melbourne Zoo.

Whitnall claims after that he received a stream of abusive and threatening phone calls from Shane.

The forwards said his brother threatened to put him "10 feet under".

Rhiannon Whitnall says Tamara told her she would put her in hospital and Shane said he would bomb her mother's house.

Whitnall's complaint says Shane made threats to kill him and fears they will be carried out.

"The AFM (aggrieved family member) believes that the defendant has made threats to kill him and his wife and extended family and believes that the defendant intends to carry out these threats."

Outside court Shane and Tamara Whitnall said they were escorted by police through the airport and to Broadmeadows police station upon returning from Queensland to be served with the intervention order applications.

The pair said they intended to apply for their own court orders against Lance and Rhiannon Whitnall in the near future.

Whitnall said outside court he wished the matter could have stayed private.

"I'm very disappointed that it's come to this. It's a private family matter that I want to stay private. This is my last resort to solve the matter."

The court bans Shane and Tamara Whitnall from assaulting, threatening or harassing Lance and Rhiannon as well as from within 100m of their home or work.

I recall Shane Whitnall being on the Carlton supp list for a few years actually. More of a midfielder, smaller type of player than a KPP like Lance.

To those knockers who say Whitnall is fat etc etc. All i can say he has done pretty well to have won a club B & F, been an All Australian, leading goal kicker, kicked 9 in a game and proven himself to dominate at both ends of the ground as well as having without doubt the sharpest footy brain in the comp. Would easily walk into any other teams starting 18.

Hmm, death threats over a zoo trip - now there's perspective. Where can you go from death threats? What if there's an argument over something really serious, like a parking spot, the dishes, or your favourite colour? You can only kill someone once.

Someone needs to not peak so early.

BTW, I wasn't planning on going professional. The day job is more likely to give me up than the other way around.

I couldn't imagine a situation where you had to take out an intervention order against your own brother. My brother is a couple of years younger than me, and even though we have had our arguments over the years, I just couldn't imagine a situation would get that bad.

I couldn't imagine a situation where you had to take out an intervention order against your own brother. My brother is a couple of years younger than me, and even though we have had our arguments over the years, I just couldn't imagine a situation would get that bad.

I thought that myself, then I realised that both my nephews have intervention orders out against their mother. Families.

Sometimes families do fall out in a big way. I know several people who have taken out intervention orders against family members. I haven't had to take out an intervention order myself, but I had to have my sister's partner arrested 18 years ago & since the court case there has been no communication with my sister & I don't see that situation changing in the near future. Not every family is like the Douglas family in My Three Sons or The Brady Bunch. Many family feuds that I am aware of have resulted from the actions of a family member's partner, rather than a direct family member, but once this happens people start taking sides & before you know it siblings aren't talking to each other, parents not talking to their children & visa-versa.

The 3 premierships your so called "great" has won in the past 70 years is a great track record as well! Not to mention the numerous Grand Final chokes!

If you research a little Collingwood history i think you'll find the club was bank rolled in the 1920's by a notorious Melbourne criminal Squizzy Taylor.

There is no organisation that is more dysfunctional than the Collingwood FC, case in point last years final against Western Bulldogs. Aside from yet another Magpie choke in September on the MCG, i do believe the Magpie cheerquad ferals turned on their own and a female member was assaulted by a male member. Classy stuff.
