1. David Spriggs (GEE)

I'm biased I know, but have you ever seen a first year player go at the ball so hard? It's so Un-Geelong

2. Paul Haselby (FRE)
3. Josh Fraser (COL)
4. Danny O'Brien (GEE)
5. Adam lange (KAN)
6. Ryan Fitzgerald (SYD)
7. Brendan Fevola (CAR)
8. Brad Green (MEL)
9. Cameron Bruce (MEL)
10. Damian Adkins (COL)

Seems a good year so far for youngsters. I think though that it is a call left for later in the season, say about round 19/20 to see who can survive without having a burnout or let down.
Hasselby has been the standout so far Id say all the rest you mentioned have done pretty good jobs too.

Definitely right Grendel, many of last years draft picks haven't even been given an opportunity yet so it is far too early to make a judgement.

You may be talking about the current time gocatsgo, but it is interesting that with the exception of a few, most have played at least a full year in the reserves or interstate equivalent.

Considering how much time Spriggs has spent coming off the bench this year, you may be a little biased naming him number one.

Apart from that your list seems fairly accurate as of Round 7. It will be interesting to see how much it has changed in 15 weeks time.

I agree that Spriggs is one of the best new players this year.He was ranked number 1 for endurance on the AFL draft camp and he shows a lot of maturity for such a young player. He is very talented and is on his way to becoming one of the best rovers in the competition.

Craig Bolton from Brisbane is also having a pretty good first season and I'd certainly place him in the top 10 for this season.

I watched Brisbane Vs Sydney on the weekend and I saw a player who could be anything.

Damian Cupido from Brisbane. He's got a good size about him, is poised and looks an exciting prospect.

If my memory serves me right, Geelong wanted him at Draft Pick 9 and Brisbane picked him up at 6. BUGGER

3 could be considered to have turned out decent..

Haselby, Fev and Bruce... Josh Fraser and Green not too far off...

Others well.. just shows how hard the afl is to crack.

This post made me laugh thou :D

in his day, Chris Grant. HANDS DOWN. skinny kid from dalesford, kicked more then 50 goals in his first season, i dont think thats been done by any other player. Granty with out a doubt, had a blinder in his 1st year and has been solid ever since.

Don't remember Adam Lange.

How many games did he play??

Chippy Atkins did have a great first year with Collingwood. Was wrapped when WCE got him.
