For past players, one that often gets overlooked, probably because he was never as 'brutal' as the others is Mark Waugh. Could hit a ball as long as anyone. Still the only bloke I've seen put one on top of the Lillee/Marsh stand.
was that the one off Vetorri ? That went a long way

Rod Marsh could give the ball a whack in his day ... remember being at AO and seeing a ball sail over our heads then over Vic Richardson gates on the western side!

That bat of Lance Cairns' must have weighed an absolute ton. 1 handed 6 into the crowd with those old bats...fair effort.

Speaking of fast bowlers giving it a bash, I remember Curtly smashing some huge ones at the MCG down the ground. Can't find vids tho unfortunately

Saw the end of that incredible innings by Levi last night for Sth Africa and it was super impressive, albeit on a small ground. Has an extremely powerful build (like a slightly taller version of Warner) and is able to generate amazing power with very little backswing or follow through. One of the most incredible shots I've ever seen comes at the 1.05 min mark, over long off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZihOzVKZ5q8 :thumbsu:

What a tiny oval. It makes me sad that such records can be made in such places when in all likelihood the player would have been dismissed a half dozen times on a proper sized ground like the 'G.

Maybe the G is too big ?
Its entertainment pure & simple. 20/20 is here today forgotten tomorrow. Who cares about records. Just enjoy it

Anyway have a look at his hitting. Most would have been six anywhere

Can any remember Shane Watson in his early days? I was a huge fan cause he was playing for the Tigers, I watched him very closely. Back then I would never have thought he would be anywhere near making people's list of top 10 biggest hitters (still not entirely convinced he should be top 10). He has evolved considerably as a batsmen.

Ponting in his day could get hold of them. Would love to see the measurement for some of those 6s he during the WC final 2003. Some of them looked absolutely massive.

There were a few that were top edges or not that well time which would have seen him out most grounds. Maybe three in total.
