Wonder about carlton.

Curnow would be best 3, but wouldnt be best 3 in importance maybe..
In terms of importance it would be:

1. Cripps
2. Kreuzer
3. Docherty (boy we have missed him)
4. Ed Curnow
5. Weitering

Grundy - probably most important player along with Cripps to any team
Pendles
De Goey
Moore
Treloar

1. Cunnington, Ben: Incredible clearance midfielder, probably best in the comp at it.
2. Tarrant, Robbie: Rarely gets a goal kicked on him, and is incredibly calm and collected in the last line of defense. Robbed of an AA guernsey a few times in the past, and likely to again this year. Gun.
3. Goldstein, Todd: He's no longer the monster ruckman from the mid 2010s, but he's still quite a dominant ruckman. With the exit of Preuss, and only a (relatively) young Xerri as backup, Goldstein is a key figure in our side.
4. Brown, Ben: In what's considered a 'down year' for Brown, he's sitting 3rd in the Coleman by only a goal. Cops some criticism for his playing style, but at the end of the day his numbers speak for themselves.
5. Ziebell, Jack: Midfelder, turned forward, turned partial midfielder, Ziebell has re-invented his game again. Managing a goal a game in 2019, as well as getting himself 3-4 clearances a game. Finally found a good balance between being a wrecking ball in the middle, and slotting them through the big sticks.

Tough one for us.

1. Johannison - his run and carry is absolutely pivotal to our success.
2. Naughton - even though he isn't dominating (yet), his presence and his ability to be a key forward is influential to our success (see Richmond game for example)
3. Bont - for his elite ball use.
4. Dunkley - to win the contested footy.
5. Macrae/Hunter - accumulating and covering the ground.

English stiff to miss out, but still very young. Easton Wood no longer in the conversation, but he was once our most important player.

In terms of players we can’t afford to lose this season:

1. Hawkins
2. Stewart
3. Dangerfield
4. Stanley
5. Ablett

In terms of ‘best’:

1. Dangerfield
2. Hawkins
3. Kelly
4. Stewart
5. Ablett

Duncan and Blicavs unlucky.
Under rating ablett a bit there imho
His delivery i50 is beyond sublime and a big part of your percentage

Gawn - tap ruckwork and contested marking at both ends.

Oliver - has been average this year but his ability to swoop on the ball and fire out a creative handball is key.

Viney - has been poor this year but his attack on the ball is team lifting when he is in form.

T McDonald - another one who has been terrible this year but at his best can run all day, take plenty of marks and be a reliable set shot at goal.

Harmes - probably our most versatile mid. Can tag well, spread, score goals and be creative through the middle.

It's really tough to judge given our form and injuries this year. Definitely Gawn at the top by a long way though.

If you take injuries out of it, from most to least important when it comes to the outcome of the game:

1. Mitchell - Is our midfield when fit, covers all manner of weaknesses.
2. McEvoy - Huge presence around the ground, rarely gets beaten.
3. Sicily - Has vision that no one else currently on our list has, picks off leads 60m away.
4. Frawley - Underrated, always does his job.
5. Gunston - If Gunners doesn't kick goals and get involved, we don't win.

In no particular order:

Hewett
Franklin - obvious
Papley - becoming an excellent foil to Buddy
Reid - when Reid is fit and firing, we play better
Sinclair - never going to be the world's greatest ruck, but who else have we got?
Rampe - cornerstone of our defence currently. Always willing to scale the heights.

OK that's 6. Sorry.

Yeo.
Shuey.
Gaff.
J.K.
Nic Nat coming back.
Also special mention to Hurn.

I would argue that Nic Nat and Gaff never need to be on this list again considering you won the flag without them.
I'd rate Hutchings for his run-with and the combo of Kennedy and Darling higher.

As far as team structure and who we would find hard to replace with quality if out-

1- Harris Andrews.
2- Lachie Neale.
3- Dayne Zorko.
4- Jarrod Berry.
5- Charlie Cameron.

The ideal scenario would be for our KPFs Daniel McStay and Eric Hipwood to step up into this group.
I think you have massively underrated Gardiner here he plays on the oppsitions best forward he can play on small and talls to not even have your top 5 seems wrong

Cripps
Kreuzer
Docherty
Jones
Charlie Curnow.
