You have played the number 2 and 3 teams and beaten them both, keeping in mind you played the Doggies at home in windy conditions and Hawthorn's kicking was pretty bad by all accounts, who do you think can challenge you?

Dogs or Hawks? (or maybe Pies and Swans?)

Collingwood & Sydney, maybe. Bulldogs & especially Hawthorn are too raw still. All four of those are good sides, but this Geelong team seriously are in a class of their own and they will win the 2008 flag, and be frontrunners for 2009 as well.

From what I recall we got fairly close to beating them, not sure if we can perform like we did in the finals though.

Just remember you don't have to be the best team in the comp to win a flag, just the best team on the day. Remember the collingwood game and reallise that nothing is sown up just yet

Well Collingwood Thrashed them by 86+ points and we been close to them last year and was a Kick of the GF.

I reckon Collingwood would give it a Big Shake:thumbsu:

Would or will?

The problem with the Pies is that they can't string two games in a row, some of their losses were very ordinary. I went to the game v Carlton, that is not the premier.

Lastly, over the past 6 or so years the winner has come from the top 4, Collingwood won't make the top 4 the way they are going.

I think those 2 games are giving you a little bit of false hope, when you say you were a kick away from a GF, have a look at Scott Burns' comment, that he never felt like the Pies would win the game, Geelong always had their noses in front, and you were assisted ably by the umpires in that game.

Collingwood's KPIs were actually worse than they were in the prelim in that game, ie they played much better in the prelim. Don't read anything into the game earlier this year.

Yes, I agree with that. For all the talk about Collingwood matching up well on Geelong, we have lost two of our last three against the Cats (albeit competitively). Hawthorn, despite last night, would still be Geelong's biggest threat IMO.

essendon Play Same Style They Would Have A Chance---witha Full Side That Is

Is this the same team I'm watching at the moment? Yeah, they're in red hot form.

C.M.F.C.C.L.M.A.T.D.C!!!

Nobody.

Hawks - Solid game. But Cats had 3 of their best out and another very important to structure. So got them covered. Buddy could star and kick straight, but there has been nothing to suggest this would be the case.

Dogs - Last week enough said.

Pies - Yes, match up well against us and have history. But I really believe that no Rocca significantly hurts their chances. People might say but Scarlett always beats him (except last time), but Rocca draws a good tall. If Cloke gets off the chain like the last few times he makes it hard to swing Scarlett on to him. Pies are also struggling so might not even get the chance.

Everyone else just not good enough.

Yes I am a Geelong member. But remove any biase. Weigh up all the options. There is a reason Geelong are $1.60 favourites. Common sense suggests Geelong are a 5 goal better side than anyone at the moment.

Injuries to some real key's Mooney, Ottens are the only things stopping Geelong. They are more experienced, stronger, more skillful than any other side in the comp and are more consistent. Plain common sense suggests Geelong are too good for the comp this year.

Personally, I don't want to see either of Collingwood or Sydney again and just quietly I'm not too keen on Hawthorn either. They are probably the three who would see us as beatable. Not sure about the rest, though.

Sydney are always dangerous, but they are also deceiving. a 20 point win over the swans is like a 45 point win against most others, at the rate they score, they'll struggle to really hurt us where it counts. I just love that we can find a goal when we need it. A hawthorn supporter tried telling me at the game that we need a key forward. Try telling that to our cabinet with the '07 cup in it. I think against all teams, that when we come to play.. With a full team.. we will find a goal when we need it.

I could tell against the hawks that for all their hard work, their progress was little.. They spent most of the game catching up.. and even then they were only doing just that, catching up.. The hard thing about beating geelong is that there are alot of barriers to break through.. Getting even is hard enough, Getting a lead is rare, and holding onto that lead is too much more most.

After the past 2 wins, i think we have a huge mental advantage over everyone barring Collingwood. Even then, enough teams have exposed MASSIVE holes in Collingwoods Game in recent weeks, that when planning starts for our next showdown, we'll have them covered. They cant expect to come out and a get the jump on us again. Harley just has to remind the boys in the opening huddle about earlier this year.

Hawthorn are a chance, Still have 5 or so players that look like boys against men.

Collingwood, Patchy, unpredictable, handleable.

Sydney, Slow, Boring, Hard, but lack anything really threatening to kick a winning score, especially when ling sits on goodes' head for the whole game.

just some thoughts.

I hear in 2018 Collingwoods having a 10 year reunion celebrating that fact. There's also word that 2017 could be a pre-celebratory year because of how well they did in 2007.

Oh how much they have to look forward to.

Anyone can beat them if they arent affraid.

Collingwood went out and really said "We dont give a shit if you guys have won x amount of game sin 2 season, we can beat you"

Dogs did it for 2 quarters, got within striking distance and then whimpered because they never thought they would be in the position they were

Hawks were in striking distance, but a few iffy umpiring decisions (note i am not saying it WAS or WASNT the umpires) along with some poor kicking at a critical stage of the match just missed out.

Dont go on about missing Key players. In all 3 of those matches, it was the players on the park who let you down. In finals it doesnt matter who you have out there. You could lose a grand final, and saying "oh we didnt have players x,y,z" wont give you the win
