So conflicted.
I know I need Goldy and want to repay him fir last seasons efforts.

I think if you can back yourself to generate lots of cash and get your rookies right then you can afford to start with Goldy and save a trade for finals.

If you're going guns and rookies, Goldy is definitely part of that plan.

I'm now starting with Goldy*

I think you can afford to start him easily. In years gone by there was no 2nd thought to paying $700+ for Ablett. This year Goldy will be that player with the bonus of Ablett, Rockliff etc being discounted. IMHO. Goldy & Ablett first picked for me.

Goldies historical average is also filled with outliers.

e.g. Game against Freo when he had really bad gastro, including vomitting on the ground, got absolutely mauled by Sandilands, not sure of his SC score, but would suggest <50. Think he had about 7 hitouts.

And, it wasn't all that long ago that his scores were being negatively effected by Hamish McIntosh being in the side, even a big string of Majak Daw games in the 2014 season.

Based on what we know now; Currie is gone, Majak isn't going to make it, Goldy is simply the only option. He's an absolute must have.

I wonder if anyone would roll the dice on Lachie Neale?

Whilst, I guess there's going to be many cheaper options, he should have increased fitness, increased game time, increased confidence. He's shown that he can go LARGE, and with some added consistency, he could be a great unique buy.

Was nearly the top scorer in the comp about a third of the way into the season. It would take some guts but gee it could come off. If he was slightly cheaper like this year I'd be all over him, but as it is he'll be priced about the same as Rocky, and there are just so many other value mids

Scores of:
Rnd 6 - 45
Rnd 9 - 67
Rnd 17 - 64
Rnd 20 - 73

As well as another 5 sub 100 games really hurt his average (104).

Dylan Shiel is aged similarly, with a similar output.

Joel Selwood burnt me pretty bad this year, not sure of prices, but I'd consider these guys over him if they were priced similarly.

Going off the early draw you'd say freo and brissy have it pretty easy.
Meaning Fyfe first picked for me with Rocky a close second.
Unfortunantley think with Beams back in Rocky's sealing will drop

On what planet do we have it pretty easy?

The planet where your first 4-5 opponents next year were the teams this year that were scored apon most by opposition in supercoach points.

Must say Rocky should score well regardless but with 2 of our first 3 matches away from home against WCE, North & Geelong can see us being thumped by 60+ in each of those matches. (doubt we'll score many sc points in those matches)

You were getting spanked every game couple of years ago when rocky was hitting 150+'s at will.
With redden gone and beams fit, how do you think rocky and Hanley will go next year?

On the flip side, Selwood is still in his prime, had a broken hand for a stretch, and will have Danger alongside him this year. My guess is he'll be a bargain next year.

Goldy
Gaz
Selwood

are the 3 I'm pretty much already locked in on.

Edit: and Libba.
