You haven't shown you're able to win close games consistently to be a flag threat.
We will start winning them. Against the dogs and swans we were 6 goals up and stopped attacking and tried to hold onto the lead by going sideways and backwards. We'll get it right

How do you see the Dees going?
I would have them along with the Swans as smokies.
The pessimistic demon fan in me says no.
Form has been good with some key players out in a really close comp but I'd just be happy if we made finals.
I don't think we can honestly contend for a flag this year.
It's GWS' to lose.
I suppose we could be considered smokies alongside Sydney but heading into a finals series this year if I had to choose between the two, I know who I'm taking and it's the more experienced list that has been a part of finals for the last however many years

Dont worry. They are not going to win it unless all games moved to SS and umpires careful to keep scott his 9/10 record on winning under 6 points. We played average against them and nearly beat em at home. Plus they have Guthrie
Whinging about the umpires at quarter to 7 in the morning.
Did you dream about them too?

You'd think that would be the issue. The Bulldogs last year did have recent finals experience. I'm not sure how much of an issue it is but it's generally footy lore you cant play finals for the first time with a list and coach and win the flag.
Maybe it's a rule waiting for someone to break it though, who knows?

A team of matt priddisses or matt priddii

The collective power of slow will hypnotise the opposition like a cobra

Then it will kick to itself - miss, gather, kick to itself, miss again till it scores a behind from right in front.

Priddites will point to the priddii on the field and bleat: "see - hes the only one who gets it"

Yep you've said it perfectly.
Some have compared our year to the Dogs last year but like you say, they'd played finals in the previous year (albeit in a losing EF).
Intangible one I suppose but I guess you never know.
GWS will be too good I think.

There's a lot of optimism in this thread, which is great. That's footy - this year the of season excitement has carried on through half the season for nearly all teams..... Except from fans of the team sitting in second spot! Fans of teams outside the eight have higher hopes than Crows fans... Teams that have never made, or never won a final are talking up their chances more than crowies.... Interesting.

Is Essendon's best footy top 4 or 6 worthy?

Gotta find some consistency, I think 2018 will be the year we become a good side consistently.
Real issue is you cant win interstate it seems.

Thought that was all going to change on Friday night but somehow found a way to lose.

Best footy is definitely top 8 material.

I think the optimism stems from the fact that no team looks super strong this year.
Lots have had patches or flashes, but not one has shown real consistency.

Crows have been poor for about 7 weeks now. 2nd spot is kinda misleading this year given how close it is. I can genuinely see us missing the 8 if we dont change something.

2012/13/14 we won plenty interstate games, 15/16 club/team was a mess so plenty of losses, This year beat Lions lost to Crows, Freo, GWS and Swans, Should have beaten Swans, Competitive vs Freo and GWS.

I agree it needs to improve but it will as we become better and more consistent, I just hope the consistency comes soon.

So Redden to come back into the team?

This is the kind of season where the Eagles could hover around the eight and make no impact on the finals, or NicNat and JK could come back, things could click and they could go on a run. I still think GWS will romp it in, but if you are GWS, Geelong, Adelaide, Port, Eagles, Bulldogs, Richmond, Melbourne or Sydney, there's no reason not to think that things could maybe, just maybe, come together at the right time.

Since the end of last season I have thought it was the Giants' flag to lose, and what they've been able to do so far with such a massive injury list is nothing short of amazing.

However I can't shake this feeling I have had for a couple of months now that they won't actually win it this year. They may finish top, they may make the grand final but I think somebody knocks them over on the day. No clue who that will be though.
