Naitanui strikes me as the type who will pull out all the stops to make his career a success. With that in mind, in 3-4 years time there is no reason to think he'll be anything other than a gun. Add to that the benefit from a membership/sponsorship point of view of having such a gun there, and combined with the struggles we've had to find a decent ruck since we lost Hudson, and he's my choice.

Hill is the pick of the midfielders, though I love Sidebottom. Hurley or Davis for the talls.

How can you tell?

On exposed from Hurley and Hill are the only choices, but things change so much in three to four years. Could be anyone.
On "exposed form", Beams is comfortably ahead of Hurley. And despite an average second season, Rich is probably ahead of Hurley as well.

Perhaps you could name the 'many' you'd take before him?

Fwiw, I think the Hurley hope is overblown on exposed form, but he looks to have a strong future.
all of the top 34 exept for shoenmakers and shiels :thumbsu:

seriously though, watts, nicnat, hill, ziebell, sidebottom, to name a few.

Exposed form was the common theme in the last few posts. Never heard of selective blindness before, looks like you are the first case.

I think Hill and Rich are easily the best performed so far. Both already look like genuine superstars. I'd probably have them followed by Hurley as the best big man (so far).

From there it gets a little tricky. Thre are quite a few other very, very, very good mids like Ziebell, Sidebottom, Beams and Hartlett followed by very, very good mids like Zaharakis, Suban and a few others.

The hardest to read are Watts and Natanui. Both have the freakish physical attributes to match or surpass someone like Hill but do they have the mental capacity to reach that potential?

...a bit of quality was in the Rookie draft too.

For starters, beams just finished top 5 in the BaF for a premiership team, has better or comparable stats to hill too.

sidebottom probably should have a NS medal hanging around his neck, he to has better or comparable stats to hill as well, so "easily" the best performed so far?, sure you wouldnt like to edit that mate?

I'm really not sure about putting Rich in as a comparison with Hill and Hurley so far. In the next 4 yrs i can see where the comparison will be, but for now no!!! had massive second year yips. players such as beams, sidebottom. I'd take ziebell before rich if we were selecting these players on their performances from their first two years.

In regards to Watts and Nic Nat, their current exposed form doesn't say much, but given they are KPP we need to understand that after 2 years in the system they wont have developed much. Give them 3-4 years of game experience and pre-seasons, they mostly likely will be in-front of the rest this draft, especially when it comes to influence in a game.

Hill and Rich are the best performed so far. Hill looks a beauty, explosive, good skills, body's still developing and ticks all the intangibles. Rich's 1st season was as dominant as we've seen, suffers from playing in a shit side but has a weapon on his boot, one of the best kicks in the league. Probably Hurley next, shown enough as a young KPP, his value will be enourmous.

For Hawthorn I would probably pick Hurley just over Hill, would be very happy with either.

No. To each their own and all, but I'm pretty happy with my evaluation.

Sidebottom did indeed have outstanding games in both GF's, but while that improved my ranking of him, I don't think that automatically makes him the better than the other players I had him on par with, who have also shown a hell of a lot. So yeah I rank him highly, but I think guys like Ziebell and Hartlett would do just as well, given the opportunity.

As for Stats, I don't think they are that helpful when trying to define that intangible "Superstar" quality. For me it's not just how many kicks and goals per game they get, it's how when you see them get the ball you just know something big is going to happen. (I also rate Hird higher than Buckley or Voss but they probably got more of the ball)

I know most on BF think Rich had a shitty second year, but I still saw a lot of that quality that blew everyone away in 09. Put it down to personal preference.

I like Rich because he is freak who has consistently dominated games. He probably didn't get the same stats as his first year but jebus can he still kick it.

I agree with what you say about Watts and Nic Nat. Both could be anything.

I'd take Hill, the kid is an absolute jet! Surprised the OP went with Beams over Sidebottom, both decent players but Sidebottom seems to save his absolute best for finals whereas Beams has been a bit underwhelming in just about all of the 6 finals he's played so far....
